"I would have given it 5 stars, but I've only had it for about 2 months. Therefore, I'm not sure about longevity. It does seem well made. I did run a bead of silicon around it just to help prevent any water seeping in. As far as function, works every time. Mine is on my duck boat, and it sure is nice not to have to worry about all the sticks and weeds jamming up a conventional float switch."

Solid State Pump switch,July 30, 2008

"I purchased this solid state pump switch about a year ago and it was so easy to install it was almost scary. It worked flawless for about 6 months and then next time i needed it to work it failed. I just now had time to diagnose the problem and found that it will not switch on when the eyes are covered. I am going to purchase one more and hopefully this time it will work as advertised. If so, then maybe I could recommend it to a friend but at this time I would have to say buyer beware. I notice it has a 3 year warranty but like most people I dont know where the paperwork is that came with it so I suppose I will just eat the cost of this one but will make sure I keep the next paperwork."

"This switch is pricey, but worth every penny. I've tried all kinds of mechanical versions of bilge switches--they all worked okay for a while, but then gave up the ghost as corrosion set in. Either the bilge overflowed because the switch didn't go on or the pump ran forever because the switch didn't turn off. The Johnson switch is working perfectly."
