"After alot of reading on this boot I decided to purchase. The boots are waterproof and warm, however they are also very stiff and not comfortable enough for me. Seems like It's harder to find a good dependable boot these days with comfort. Will be sending back for an exchange."

"I am 63 years old and walk about 5 miles every day through hilly country in eastern Missouri. The rain/snow/freeze/thaw of January has kept me primarily walking on roads since I bought these a month ago so I cannot attest to their worth as serious "hiking" boots, but, they have proven to provide excellent support and comfort for the first 150 miles I have walked in them. Conditions have been horrible but the boots have held up perfectly and still look like new."

"These boots have been on my feet everyday for about 19 months now. I hike, hunt, ride quads, play and work in them everyday. Never have I owned a pair of hikers that have taken that kind of abuse for more than one year. They are still in good shape and going strong."

"Let me start by saying that I hike several times throughout the year and one of them is usually a strenuous hike. Let me also say that I have some of the sissiest feet a man can have. My feet are ridiculous. Needless to say boots are very important to me.
I bought this boot replacing my Montrails. The montrails were a good durable boot, but not nearly as nice as these Danner's.
In September, I hiked the Grand Tetons on a three day backcountry hike up Paintbrush divide. These boots were AWESOME. We crossed every kind of terrain imaginable including: snow/glacier, rain, mud, and a lot of rock. These boots held up in ALL of these situations. They gave me great ankle support, they are firm enough to handle my 37lb pack, but yet not to firm so that it feels like I'm wearing blocks on my feet.
I wore them for about 15 - 1.5 mile hikes before going on my trip to wear them in. I don't think I needed to do that, but I don't take any chances when it comes to my feet.
Anyway - if you are up in the air about buying a Danner boot...DONT BE!!! I have owned other Danner work boots and the quality is bar-none.
Buy confidently - this is a GREAT boot."

"I owned the 453 GTX danners for 5 months.I tried to give the boots a chance in all types of weather.But they are No good on wet rock,mud, snow and they just dont feel good also.A waste of money!"

"I have used my 453 GTX Hikers for 60 miles now of the nastiest, ruggedest climbing/hiking in the mountains of New Hampshire and can finally say that they are exemplary. All hiking was done with a light pack. The support is outstanding, and traction is good, although wet, smooth rocks will still allow some slippage. Comfort is the trump card of this boot, however. My feet feel ready to go, and while wearing these, my knees and hips have been more agreeable than I was expecting given the duration of these hikes. After my first Franconia Ridge loop hike, which is notorious for rocks and elevation gain, I realized that I could-and would if my girlfriend were willing- come back and do the entire nine miles again the next day. I broke them in at work with a number of 8-10 hour days, which is necessary, and wore good quality wool hiking socks. The lacing system allows you to tighten or loosen the entire boot easily. Finally, I did have a few threads start to come loose in the stitching from abrasion. I simply put a small amount of shoe goop on them and they hold extremely well. The metal rings for the laces seem extremely tough. There are many that are badly scraped and even somewhat misshapen and with no finish left-that is how hard I've been using these- but they are fully functional and appear to be ready to last the life of the boot. I love these boots, and they seem like they're just getting started after 60 miles of rough rock and wood trails and probably 20 miles or more of work use. As long as they fit and work this well, I plan to keep a pair on hand."

"These are well constructed boots like the other Danner boots that I have purchased over the years. I have 2 pair of insulated hunting boots and a pair of non-insulated hunters that have all worked well in cold (South Dakota Pheasant) rocky and dry (Texas Hill Country Deer) and wet (Mississippi Delta) conditions. None of them have ever rubbed a blister or leaked. I bought these GTX Hikers for warm dry conditions that occur in the Texas Hill country and they performed very well with minimal, if any, wear."

"I HAVE TENDER AND SENSITIVE FEET. THESE BOOTS ARE KILLING MY FEET. THE TOE BOX IS SMALL MAKING BOTH MY LITTLE PIGGIES THAT CRY ALL THE WAY HOME CRY EVEN MORE. THE BOOT IS STIFF OUT OF THE BOX AND A LITTLE HEAVY. MY FEET SWEAT IN WARM WEATHER AND FREEZE IN COLD WEATHER WHILE WEARING THESE BOOTS. "Danner has always meant high quality. These boots are excellent. I had them submerged within one inch of the top of the boot and they are completely waterproof (GORE TEX). The soles and toe caps are rugged and durable. Danner also uses quality laces that should also last many hikes. Lacing up the boots is quick and easy. These boots are well made and worth every penny. They are also MADE IN THE USA! These boots will not let you down."
