Realistic but not very durable,

"I have 3 boys and they each got a toy gun from Cabelas. One of them was the Old Tex Toy Rifle. It was the first to break. The ammunition rings are difficult to remove and takes a tool to pry it out. My 7 year old son couldn't do it leaving me to pull it out my knife each time. The guns look real and are made well but the moving parts failed."

"My boy loves this my daughter does not, it is a lot louder than normal cap guns. It is also hard to find caps unless you order on the internet. Overall love the product."

"EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE PRODUCT. RING CAPS HAD TO BE PURCHASED ELSE WHERE. THE RIFLE IS HARD TO SHOOT FOR A 10YR OLD BOY. CAPS GET STUCK EASILY. IT TAKES AN ADULT WITH A SCREW DRIVER TO PRY THE CAPS OUT. POOR DESIGN MECHANISM. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT AT ALL."

"i purchased this for my 5 year old son and thought it would be a terrific "learner" gun for him. wanted to teach him gun safety and the mechanics of a rifle. was eagerly anticipating being able to shoot caps with it. we were sorely disappointed!! the heat form the caps literally melted the plastic, after about seven rings of caps the gun fell apart in front of his eyes. the chamber broke off and you cannot fix it (even though we sure tried) and two days later the scope fell off too. it is made of cheap pop metal and plastic. i would NOT recommend wasting your money. save your money and buy something else. i wish i did and i wouldnt have a really disappointed child."

"This item is a must have for kids!I was very impressed with the realistic craftsmanship.The size is great for little ones and yet they will not outgrow it's use quickly.The stock looks like real wood and sturdy enough to sustain all the tumbles I know it will receive.The die-cast cylinder and trigger are easily operable for little hands and fingers offering independent play.Toy cap guns are hard to find nowadays and this is a shame.Kids should be able to be kids and enjoy all types of role play.If supervised it will remain just innocent play as it should be.Thank-you Cabelas!"
