good buy, October 18, 2009
By dprawl from stratford,c.t.

"I was very surprised at how quickly i could adapt to using this amazing mulit tool.
It doesn't matter how old or dull the knife, i tested it out on a fillet knife i found stuck inbetween 2 buckets soaked in saltwater from last season.
I was able to clean all the rust off the knife, and when i went to sharpen it, i soon learned how great this little sharpener was at putting a nice edge on the blade.

Smiths 3-in-1 sharpener, October 15, 2009
By NewJersey from Morris County, New Jersey

"Although this sharpener is effective, I do not think it gives that razor sharp edge I am looking for. It definitely brings the edge back but I like my knives sharp enough to shave with. I may be too picky. I use this to sharpen my fillet knife for ocean fishing, hunting knives and general house knives. It is good but not great."

Does the job, April 11, 2009
By DarrellM5 from Round Mountian, NV

"These are really good. The only issue, and it's a minor one, is that if you are using them on the barrel band on a 10/22, they will make the band loose enough to slip off. I had to use a thin piece of cardboard, cut from the end of an ammo box, to shim it up. It's working great now."

Field sharpener, March 9, 2009
By dcdon from Bossier City, LA

"This little sharpener is okay. compact enough, and the carbide bits can be replaced. I put it to a real test getting a smooth edge on a Puma with a very rough finish. But finally got it to 10 degrees and smooth to the eyes of an electronic microscope on 100 to 1."

Smith's 3-in-1 Field Sharpener, January 21, 2009
By Woody3743 from I live in Zebulob, N.C.

"Many years ago I started using a 2 ceramic rod sharpener. I thought that sharpner was the next best thing to sliced bread.

THEN, I found the Smith's 3-in-1 Field Sharpener. The ceramic rods go from a fine point to sharpen serrated blades to a flat side for regular blades. Both rods have neat hook sharpening grove in them. The unit is rounded out with a diamond sharpener and a tungsten carbide sharpener. What more could an outdoorsman ask for.

A great compact sharpener, December 26, 2008
By Anonymous from Northwest

"I have been using various methods of sharpening knives and other tools for many years. This is the best compact system I have ever used. A lot of thought went into the design of this sharpener, and it shows in its simple storage, variety of sharpening options, and in the fine edge it produces."

Pure junk, October 30, 2008
By Letsgohuntin from Surprise AZ

"I do not claim to be an expert at sharpening but I am decent. Anyway I have used several other sharpening systems and bought this one to keep in the truck. For starters the carbide blades don't do anything. I took them apart and they look like cheap stamped steel. The stone is decent but doesn't really do a very good job. As for the ceramic rods they don't really help either and they are too short for a decent sized blade. My biggest gripe though is with the notched piece of plastic that turns the cover into a handguard. The very first time I used it when I went to pull the cover out this piece of plastic came out. I had to superglue it back in. Needless to say this will not be going into my truck. My knife was actually duller after sharpening than before."

handy and compact, October 1, 2008
By theham from oshawa canada

"I have only sharpened my kitchen knives so far and it seems to do a pretty fair job.I haven't needed to sharpen my field knives yet .so I can't honestly say yet on better steel(s30). I do like the stone,And I've tried lots of sharpeners over the years and I like this one the best so far."

3-in-1 Field Sharpener, June 2, 2008
By Joseppie from Austin, Texas

"This sharpener is a must-have tool. I've used this sharpener many times - on scissors, serrated steak and vegetable knives, a machete, my Ka-bar, and just about anything else dull laying around the house that I need to make SHARP! The easily positionable sharpener rods are great for all knives, but I also use the flat diamond stone as well. The unit is small, lightweight and easy to throw in the tackle box, toolbox or in the glovebox of a pick-up."

"I never sharpened a knife before. After a little practice, I was slicing through newspaper. It's better than I thought it was going to be. It's well made and will be around for a long time."
