Cimarron in durability
and affordable price, but offers a stronger drag, large arbor configuration,
innovative conversion mechanism and additional features that anglers have come to expect with
modern fly reel design. Guides and hard-core anglers alike will appreciate the series' incredible
durability, reliable performance and sensitive drag. The CLA features a strong, smooth and sensitive
disc drag system with friction-based Delrin® drag material that is impervious to heat,
compression, glazing, aging and crumbling. The transition between line-in
and drag engagement (no startup friction) is seamless. The reel also has a fully ventilated, perfectly
balanced spool and
frame. You'll find the perfect ratio of spool width to arbor diameter that provides all the benefits of

"I am very satisfied with the Ross CLA reels. I purchased the #7 last year with the extra spool and used them successfully in Alaska for King salmon up to 45#. The drag system works very well and enabled me to control the run of these fish. I purchased the #5 recently to use on reds and silvers this year. Great product."

"Bought this as a replacement to another reel that I was dissapointed with. this thing is great. After Ten full weeks of striper fishing in the surf it still performs as well as day one. I have fallen on rocks and it has a "ding" but it is only superficial and the reel is what I landed on. SHows how tough this thing is. I do rinse every night and loosen the drag all the way before doing so, but I imagine most guys do the same.
The drag is widely adjustable and super smooth. Drag knob is large and easy to grip in a "hurry' when you need to. The handle is also large and easy to find. The large arbor picks up line quickly and is a nice bonus.
All this plus the Ross service can't be beat. After only what amounts to a third of a season for me, (but a lifetime for others), I am very pleased. I would recommend this to anyone looking for quality/function. If it is a bit out of your price range, I suggest you mow a few lawns or work some OT to save for it. You'll have it FOREVER, (read guarantee), and its well worth waiting a bit if you have to.
I am really tough on gear, just ask the local fly shop, and if I am happy with it, you should be too. Tight LInes!"

"Easily comparable to reels twice the price in both features and performance, the Ross Cimarron reels are great looking, too! Even the drag click is easy on the ears.
With a smooth drag and fast retrieve due to the large arbor construction, I would recommend this reel to anyone looking for a moderately priced fly reel."
