Nikon has taken the best-selling Buckmaster Series riflescopes to a new level for 2005. They feature sleek new styling with a new ultra-matte finish. Nikon's new BDC reticle can give you the edge you need to determine the correct hold point before taking the shot. Designed for use with most centerfire cartridges, the BDC provides reliable aiming points out to 500 yds, after sighting in at 100 yds. Nikon matched high-resolution lenses with light capabilities up to 92% for bright, clear images. These Buckmaster scopes also feature 1/4"-MOA positive-click (the 6-18 x 40 has 1/8-MOA), hand-turnable recticle adjustments, a new fast-focus eyepiece and Nikon's full-lifetime warranty. Like all other Nikon scopes, the Buckmasters are 100% waterproof, fogproof, and shockproof for a lifetime of hard use. Specific models feature the BDC reticle. Nikon Buckmaster rifle scope, November 3, 2009
    By Anonymous from Spokane WA

    "It's Great!!
I bought a Cabela's Alaskan scope in the bargain cave at the Buda Texas store. When I arrived Back home in Spokane Wa, I attempted to sight in my new Browning .270 WSM which I also bought at the Buda store. I found that the scope was defective. I took the gun and scope to the Cabela's store in Post Falls ID. They replaced the scope with a Nikon Buckmaster at no charge to me.
I am very happy with Cabela's and the way I was treated. I will buy another Nikon Buckmaster for my custom built .300 Win Mag.

Nikon Buckmasters scope, October 27, 2009
    By buckhunt1 from Bradenton, FL

"I haven't had the chance to use this scope in the field yet, but have taken it to the range to sight it in. So far, I am very pleased with the quality/craftsmanship of this scope compared to other more expensive ones on the market. I'll be using this in northern Michigan in a few weeks, hoping to take a nice buck with it. If I had another gun, I would certainly mount another Nikon Buckmaster onto it."

    Disappointed Defective, October 26, 2009
By kjss from Spring Green, WI

"I received this scope, a 3-9X40, with great eagerness.
Mounted it on a Ruger #1 30-06 and started sighting. The optics seemed clear and the scope nice to look at, but right away in the bore sighting it seemed to be arbitrary on the adjustments.
When I came to shooting, it would not move at times and other times jump 4 inches. When I left it unchanged the groups were random and wide open.
By that time the barrel was heating so I tried again the next day and with different bullets. Same thing.
Just to be sure, I mounted an old scope and it walked right in, reasonable groups.
This of course is only one scope, and any body can make a mistake, but shouldn't they have caught it in the quality checks?
Cabela's was great of course about taking it back. I asked for a refund, spent too much time and money (shells !) to try again.
    Got a different scope.

    By JBARNHILL from Cheraw, SC.

"A great scope that ranks up there with the big names. The zoom, clarity, and craftsmanship are excellent. The extras that come with it are also a plus. Sometimes it is tough to get quick eye alignment, but overall excellent. I have two "Buckmasters" and one "Monarch"."

    By 65swede from Missouri Hunter

"This is my third buckmaster scope, the first with the BDC retical & side focus abjective. I mounted it on a Remington R-25 .308 This is definitely a big game only scope at extended ranges the circles are difficult to work with on cyotes at 400 plus yards but is possible. This scope does take away the guess work for bullet drop
i can hold a three inch group at 400 yards using the BDC Which is the bottom of the second circle for my hand loads. The side focus markings come up short coinciding with correct yardage. This scope has a lot of potential. If seriously considering buying one i would take a good hard look at the sight in and ranging instructions
provided. If you are not willing to spend the time & ammunition that is is going to be required, you will never know the full potential of this scope. I would have given this scope five stars had it not been for the questioable side focus graduation markings

Nikon Buckmaster Scopes, September 17, 2009
    By PAReloader from Central PA

"I own two Nikon Buckmaster scopes. A 3-9 for my Tikka 30-06 for deer hunting and a 6-18 for my Tikka Varmint 22-250. I bought the 3-9 after doing a lot of research. You can't beat the quality of the optics for the price. It was an easy decision when I wanted a scope for my new varmint rifle. I doubt I will ever need the lifetime guarentee, but it is nice to know that it is there."

    NIKON 6X18 WITH NIKPLEX, August 27, 2009
    By shooter636 from JANESVILLE CA

"I HAD THE CHANCE TO BUY ONE OF THESE SCOPES FOR A 22-250 REM 700 VARMINT. THIS SCOPE HAS BEEN A DREAM. THE WAY I CAME ACROSS THE BUCK MASTER SCOPES, WAS I HAD SAVED MY MONEY A LITTLE AT A TIME UNTIL I HAD ENOUGH MONEY FOR A BIG BOY SCOPE. I WENT AND LOOKED AT DIFFERENT SCOPES, I REALLY DID NOT CARE FOR THE CLARITY OF THE PRICIER SCOPES. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF WALKING AWAY FROM THE SALES COUNTER AND A CABELAS SALES REP ASKED ME WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. I TOLD HIM A GOOD CLEAR SCOPE THAT WAS RELIABLE AND EASY TO USE. HE ASKED ME IF HAVE I CONSIDERED THE BUCK MASTER SCOPE I ADVISED HIM THAT I HAD NOT. I FELT AT UNDER HALF THE PRICE OF THE OTHER SCOPES THAT HAD LOOKED AT, I WOULD BE GETTING AN INFERIOR PRODUCT, BUT TO BE NICE I LOOKED THROUGH THE GLASS AND IT WAS VERY CLEAR AND SHARP. I DECIDED WHY NOT AND I BOUGHT ONE. I HAVE KILLED OVER 25 COYOTES AND NUMEROUS DIGGER SQUIRRELS. I SHOOT A 40 GRAIN V-MAX. WITH VARGET POWDER AND REM CASES. AT 200 YARDS I CAN HIT 1.5 INCH GROUPS ALL DAY LONG; THAT IS SHOOTING OFF MY R.A.S.S BENCH FROM RCBS. I AM CONFIDENT IN THE TACT KNOBS AND HAVE FIGURED OUT HOW MANY CLICKS I NEED FOR THE DIFFERENT YARDAGE ECT. I AM ABOUT TO BUY ANOTHER ONE OF THESE SCOPES THANKS A LOT CABELAS."

    Nikon Buckmaster, August 24, 2009
    By gdgarret from ohio

"I bought the 4.5x14x40SF and put it on my model 70. I took it to the range on a partly cloudy day to zero it in and was pleasantly suprised. The optical quality was good and crisp for a scope in this price range. I thought that I might need a Monach to get the quality of optics that I wanted, but I'm happy with the Buckmaster. I zeroed the scope quickly without any issues and shot a couple of boxes using various magnifications. No problems. Thinking about upgrading my Prostaff on my .17 to a Buckmaster after using this scope, big difference."

"I bought this scope for my Browning X-Bolt 300wsm on a friends recommendation. After sighting in I am able to place 3-5 rounds at 100 and 200 yards in a 3 inch circle. I can't wait for the start of the hunting season. Very easy to use, great clarity."

    Good long/short range scope, August 3, 2009
    By GrantinVA

"I chose the mil-dot 4.5x-14x model. This is a decent long range scope so long as you limit yourself to about 500yds with a .308Win. Its limited 50MOA max adjustment necessitates an angled base beyond that range, and possibly a bit closer if your sight in takes up too much elevation adjustment. The mil dots appear to be true at 12x per the instructions-this is well marked on the power ring. As with all Nikon Mildot scopes,it comes with a coupon for a nearly free MilDot Master range estimator, which is nice. The optics appear to be very clear with good eye relief, and no obvious parallax issues when the focus is adjusted properly. This is quite handy for extended range shooting. Adjustments are true, though I haven't used click adjustments for shooting, choosing to use the mildots for aiming points based on my fixed zero.
My only real complaint is the small 40mm lens size for most of the Buckmaster series. I see no reason they can't use a larger 44mm+ lens,to allow a larger exit pupil at the higher magnifications,as in the Monarch series. While 40mm is obviously adequate for 3-9x daylight use,it suffers in fading light at 14x.
Summary: It's a great compromise scope for long and short range hunting and target shooting. It's not as good as a dedicated long range scope like the Monarch X,nor as good at low light as a huge 50mm lower powered optic, but it does both reasonably well.

Gooder than very good., August 3, 2009
    By RJZIERT from Phoenix, AZ

"I'd have to say this scope is the best optics investment I've made in 20 years. Mine is the 4.5-14x40 Matte. For the middle ground price, it beats all including Leupold, and others. . . and I've bought or experienced several "others". Construction, clarity, low light capability - 92% light transmission, hand turned reticle adjustments, lifetime full guarentee, on and on I could go, and now with the BDC reticle, and side focus feature. . . all top notch. . . very, very favorably impressed."
