"The Ram Rod in this kit has been downgraded from the Rod in previous kits with the same part number. Several of my friends bought this kit about a year ago, and it came with a nice 3/8 inch dia. brass rod. The current kits come with a 5/16 inch dia. rod and the quality is also poor. When assembled, the rod is not straight and even the handle is drilled off center. I bought this particular kit to get the high quality Ram Rod and only got a much cheaper piece. Very disappointing, because it used to be good!"

"I just started muzzleloading so I thought I needed some type of specialized cleaning kit. I chose this one. My opinion is that there are better values out there. FIrst, this kit does not come with any type of storage case or box. Event the most inxepensive rifle cleaning kits come with some way to keep everything together. I had to scrounge up a plastic box. What a hassle. Second, while the rod is undoubtedly better than the ramrod that came with my rifle, the jags are redundant and the bronze brushes are sub-par quality. Instead of this kit, I would recommend buying lots of extra dry patches, a small container of pre-soaked cleaning patches, and a good bronze brush."

"While obviously good quality, I cannot use it. It is advertised as a universal cleaning kit but I think Cabela's need to check on the length of ML barrels. This rod in about 3 inches too short. I cannot use it with my Traditions Kentucky."

"If you have a long barrel smokestick you gotta buy two kits! The brushes are not the best and be careful about the threads...they can strip. That said...this kit is still the best value I have found to clean a 40" long bore. Enjoy!"

"Well this is a pretty alright kit for the money. However, it wasn't long enough for my Kentucky rifle. Cabela's customer service got me in contact with the manufacturer. Unfortunately I'm still waiting on a solution to this problem. I did finally manage to rig it up good enough to clean my gun. However the brass brushes are of poor quality and are now lodged in the barrel. YAY Bottom line: good kit for the money, If you have a 30"+ barrel order 2 (messing around with the manufacturer is a headache)"

"this is a good strong cleaning kit and works very well, you can also stick the cleaning rod down the barrel when you know for sure gun is empty and put a mark on the rod so when you start shooting your muzzleloader all you have to do is drop the rod down the barrel to make sure it is on the mark you made on the cleaning rod just a little extra saftey."
