"I have a couple of the permanently installed polychokes and they work extremely well. This screw in type would not adjust properly, as a matter of fact, it was frozen up and not adjust at all"

Love Polychokes but not this one...,October 1, 2009
By Leicadavefrom New Jersey
"Polychokes are a favorite. Love the convenience and look. But this one just wouldn't fit my 870, and my gunsmith couldn't persuade it either. Maybe just my barrel, but it's gone back to Cabelas and I'm hoping for a reasonable solution.
I think I'll try single choke like the Comp N Choke which looks like a polychoke but maybe will fit."

threaded polychoke,January 28, 2009
By ETOHfrom Lincoln, NE
"I have known of the permanent type of polychoke in the past but this is really neat. Screws into a barrel that will accept threaded chokes.
You can just adjust it to the choke pattern you want, easy. You can go back to your normal threaded chokes any time you want. This unit also offers some slots for compensation at the end of the barre."

old things are good,September 29, 2008
By svp51from Manistee, Mich
"Some old but very useful things should not be moth balled, and this is one. No matter how many screw in tubes you have for your shotgun they are never in the field or blind with you. You can't beat just turning the coke at the end of your shotgun to change the pattern."

Disapointed,June 19, 2008
By phil123from ramona california
"I got this choke, hoping not to have to change out chokes and to help with turkey loads. I put it on my Benelli m1 field 12ga. I'm sorry to say , but it was junk on this gun. The factory chokes that came with the Benelli were much better. I shot heavyshot and standard 3" loads from federal."

Polychoke,May 29, 2008
By Seasonedfrom Southeastern Washington State
"I received the screw in Poly-Choke II just in time for taking my second spring turkey. With it set on X-Full and installed on my 870 Express Magnum, it performed with excellence in taking my last turkey with a 3 ½" Hevi-Shot load of No 6 shot. My bird was taken at a range of about 25 yards, by the time that I got the shot off. He was beginning to run away but went down in his tracks. I have only used it for turkeys, but I look forward to trying it this fall on other game. I like the idea of having several chokes built into one, giving me the versatility of adjusting for upland bird, waterfowl, turkeys, or coyotes. My dad put one on my first shotgun, when I was a kid. Now, at 67 years old, I feel like I have come full circle. I performed a simplistic patterning check of the various choke settings and found them all satisfactory, but I want to run a more thorough checkout with target loads at the shotgun range, for starters, and later with more specialized loads. The only downside that I have found, so far, is that a special wrench which comes with the choke, must be used when adjusting to more open chokes or else the entire choke will loosen up in the shotgun barrel. Perhaps after the choke is broken in it will become easier to adjust. Then there is the consideration that I have arthritic opposable digits (thumbs) which do not help in the opening, closing, or adjusting of tight items, all part of getting old, but it beats the alternative."

Polychoke II,May 6, 2008
By LPA248from Running Springs, CA
"Easy to install and use on my 870 Express. Does completely what the manufacture advertised, in every way. It gives you complete control of your shot pattern with less recoil and flash. Had a ball playing with the multiple settings, even using basic target loads. I would recommend oiling the threads prior to installation, as it makes it easier to remove for cleaning."

Disappointing at Best – Ruins Patterns,January 23, 2008
By MichaelandSagefrom Texas Gulf Coast
"I was excited about buying this and having one choke for all occasions. I screwed it into my new Beretta XTREMA2 and commenced to shot at a few ducks. I could not hit much of anything over 15 yards away and anything I did hit was crippled. Several ducks were lost which makes me sick. I could not figure out why my shooting was so bad all of the sudden. As I chased a wounded duck through the 18” deep flats dumping $1.50 shells at it I noticed the patterns were very wide and inconsistent as they hit the water around the crippled duck. No adjustment seemed to work right or consistently. I unscrewed the Poly Choke, put the Beretta Optima Plus modified tube back in and dropped the next three ducks with three shots and no cripples. The Poly Choke also rusted within a few hours but this happens to most any unprotected metal around here.
Last weekend I went to the range with a buddy and we patterned our guns. The Poly Choke would not shoot consistently with any load from light 2 ¾ #8 lead dove loads to hot and heavy 3 ½ BB steel loads or any of the other six factory loads I tried. The Poly Choke patterns were very “clumpy” and inconsistent. I never could get any of the Poly Choke adjustments to shoot tighter than a sloppy modified pattern even on the “full” setting. It was worse with steel especially with my favorite high velocity loads. Patterns blew apart when I tried to tighten them. The Beretta Optima Plus chokes were fantastic with all the eight loads I tested through the Poly Choke during the same weather, same day, and same gun. Sorry Poly Choke people. I know Poly Choke is legendary and all but if anyone buys this I encourage them to try it out on a patterning board first."

Polychoke,November 13, 2007
By Ruddyfrom Anchorage, AK
"This Polychoke was purchased and mounted on a 12 Ga. Remington 870 shotgun that I purchased as a gift for my Grandson. It installed easily and fitted well. I do not know if he has shot it yet. The reason that I purchased this product is that I had one installed on my Remington 11-48 around 1954. I have used it to shoot ducks, phesants, grouse, doves, skeet, trap and clays in Japan and in the US. It has served me well. All of my test patterns have been acceptable. It is still doing a very good job. I can surely recommend the Polychoke to any hunter."
