Gerber collaborated with the military for two years developing this knife as the ultimate survival tool.
The rugged, partially serrated 420 High Carbon steel blade could be used to construct a
shelter, cut wood for a fire, or slice through thin metal and Plexiglas. The over-molded handle is made
for long-use comfort without blistering. Butt cap and tang are separated by the handle's substrate to
absorb shock when used as a hammer and provide electrical insulation from the blade. The ergonomic
design also has lashing holes to use the knife as a spear head. The versatile sheath can be worn on the
calf, belt or a Molle vest, and it has an integrated sharpener. Blade length: 4-7/8''.

Very Beefy Knife,November 1, 2009
By slosurferfrom Central Coast, CA
"Just got this knife the other day. It seems very heavy duty and I love all the mounting options for the sheath. The knife went straight into my bug out bag. I can't wait to go camping and use it.
I like how it can be worn handle down and it is very secure and not going to slide out. It's not coming out of the sheath until you want it to."

"This is a great knife. I have not got to use it as much as I would like, but what little I have has been great! It is a well made knife that I will probably get many years of use out of. It will be one of those I will hand down to my nephew."

rockin'&rippin' knife,October 4, 2009
By 57575
"best knife i've ever seen by far, great rugged blade, the black coating keeps, but it does have a small flaw. the rubber tears a little and looses some color when u take it in and out of the sheath. overall, its a great long lasting knife. love it and use it all the time. it would also be the perfect survival knife. plus, a little overkill with handle straps. awesome sheath!"

Gerber LMF II Knife,September 18, 2009
By KDSteelefrom Elk Grove, CA
"this is the best knife i have ever bought. the weight is perfict for every thing you could wish to do. i am a huge fan of the leg sheath it is very usefull in all aplications. the edge on the knife is razor sharp straight out of the box witch is big for me. another nice feature is the sharpener that is built in to the sheath, eventhough it's a little bit of a pain too get to. over all the knife is awsome and i have never seen a beter all around tool."

Great Knife for camping,August 11, 2009
By flatlander88from Kansas
"I own two of these knives and I am very glad I do. It is a very big and heavy knife for hunting and fishing but makes a great camping knife. Whether it's slitting wood, chopping tinder or just simply cutting rope the knife is great."

Great Knife!!!,August 6, 2009
By Hendrick88from Illinois
"This is a very high quality knife for the money. Tough as nails and if you ever crash your f-16 you can bust out the canopy with the point at the end of the handle or lash it to a stick and make a spear. Way too cool to pass up!"

Great large knife,July 29, 2009
By KYBuyerfrom KY
"I bought this item several years ago and have had no problems at all with it. It came well packaged and ready for some hard use. The blade works well for camp chores and if used correctly the tip allows for some more delicate use. This knife can be attached to a pole very easily and used as a spear if needed (haven't used it this way, but like the fact that I could if I needed to). The handle can be used to break glass or as a hammer. The handle allows for one of the best grips I have found on larger knives (very comfortable for big hands). The handle material allows for a great grip when in use, but I have read from others that it does not hold up if hammered on and abused past it's proposed use. So far mine has held up from normal use. Not only is the knife very versatile, but the whole package is as well. The sheath provides several different options for wearing the knife and keeps it secured completely when not in use. The best part is the built in sharpener that you won't lose or forget when you need one out in the field. I have been very impressed and satisfied with this knife and would recommend it to anyone looking for a larger knife."

Gerber LMF II Knife problem,May 26, 2009
By Senicafrom Black Hills South Dakota
"I did not even have a chance to use the knife when I noticed the rubber grip was separating from the knife shank. It appears the force of pushing the knife into its sheath pushes the rubber back on the handle. One side of the knife has significant separation from the shank and the other is starting to separate."

good knife,May 14, 2009
By DCinAZ
"I have purchased several knives and this is a good knife. I bought it for my wife during our hunts and she loves it. Well made of quality quality material. She loves the versatility of the sheath which allows her to carry in on her belt, on her calf or by fastening it to her pack. She is looking forward to using it on our next hunt."

Gerber LMF Knife,May 4, 2009
By COWBOY94from Kooskia, Idaho
"Incredible knife! More than I expected, sharp out of the box, and I couldn't be happier. I carry it everywhere I go when in the mountains, and have used it to construct shelters when I'm with my son to show him basic survival skills. The sheath is a little bit overkill(too many straps!), but the built in sharpener is really cool. It really works! I found that it isn't that hard to get the knife out, like other reviewers had mentioned, plus it helps keep the knife in if the snaps come undone (but the snaps really hold tight!). All in all, a really great knife, fast shipping from cabelas, (4 days) excellent product from Gerber, and I couldn't be happier."

Best Knife Ever!,May 4, 2009
By BearGryllsJuniorfrom Chicago, IL
"Best knife I've ever purchased. I do a lot of hunting, fishing, camping, and it has impressed me. The overall durability, hollowed out handle to attach stick to make spear, hammer, glass breaker, sheath with multiple mounting options, built in sharpener. I would recommend it to the adventurer who's looking for a Man Vs. Wild survival knife. Peace out."

gerber LMF II,April 21, 2009
By schonguy1from Davenport ia
"This is a serious piece of metal. I actually thought there they sent something i did not order, the box was pretty heavy. when i took it out of the box i was amazed at the width of the blade. after looking at a few reviews on line i knew it was going to hold up well and be the last knife i will need. i also like the military like straps that i can anchor around the bottom portion of my thigh. it stays in place and does not get caught on brush or fences i am crossing. i would also like to mention that the blade came out of the box extremely sharp. it is a bit decieving because the knife blade is so much thicker than most so it does not look sharp. also once you put the knife in the sheath, it will not come out. it has a locking mechanism with an audible click to let you know it is in there. i don't even use the straps to lock it in. Gerber has made one heck of a knife, and they have never done me wrong yet."

Too heavy for me.,April 14, 2009
By Spishfrom Philadelphia, Pa
"As any serious backpacker/camper knows wieght is everything. To many times people mistake wieght for reliability, this knife was extremely too heavy for the average outdoorsman. Plus the blade was not full tang...in laymans terms, the blade did not extend the full length of the knife, which made me question the reliability and functionality of the design. Grip felt comfortable, and the sheath was more than you could ever ask for. Once again Cabelas shipping was much faster than expected...GREAT JOB! I returned it the same day. I usually dont write negative reviews, but I wish I would have been warned about the wieght prior to the purchase."

This is a Serious Knife,February 20, 2009
By Anonymousfrom Ohio
"Bought this knife off of the website and it arrived in 3 days! Cabela's also offers order tracking through USPS. Fast, and smooth shipping thanks.
Now on to the knife. This knife is heavy duty. The sheath is very bulky and is designed to be Molly compatible. I bring this up only because if you are planning on taking this on a hunting trip you are going to have to strip off a number of the straps ect that come attached to the scabbard. This being said Gerber thought this far ahead and built the scabbard to be stripped down to a smaller size. The quality of craftsman ship is noticable the moment you pick the scabbard up. This thing is heavy duty with the straps being mad of HEAVY nylon and a thick plastic that can only be compared to the synthetic stock found on the modern M4 rifles. It offers a number of attachment options including a belt loop, ankle straps, Molly straps, and even thigh straps.
The knife itself is probably the most high quality cutting insturment I have ever beheld. When you hold this thing you get a true understanding of what a high quality knife really is. Although I have scene a few (and I do mean a few) knives come out of the box sharper than this one this knife has an edge on it that will get the job done. Remember this is not meant to be a razor blade. It is a survival knife. It's meant to pry, chop, cut, skin, stab, and generally be used for any number of tough tasks over and over again. Although there are a few knife edges out there that boast a better edge retention than this knife so what, the scabbard of this thing comes with an integrated knife sharpener that works. I have not tried out the glass breaker/hammer on the butt of the knife but I can tell you that I have no doubt it will get the job done. The rubber gripped handle is comfortable and also very heavy duty. This knife really is built to military spec, and the military knows how to build one heck of a knife!"
