"this shock collar is a pretty decent device. it has 2 different settings (tone and shock). the tone is pretty much pointless, you can barely hear it. my dog just stands there and doesn't even flinch! the other setting is the actual shock, this collar has 7 levels. we have not used anything higher than a 5 (i have a yellow lab puppy, he is 8 months and 85 pounds) the level 4 or 5 will really get his attention. there is a 'boost' button, where you can hit that in a hurry i guess and it will shock the dog 2 more levels passed where it is set at (so if its set at 5, it will shock at 7). i think we used that maybe 2 times, only when he wouldn't listen to the lower levels and he was in danger (running near the street). he listens very well now and does not wander, usually we only have to put the collar on him and maybe show him the remote once or twice. my husband actually showed him his cell phone once and he laid right down. so YES it does work, but we would have liked to have had one with a vibration, we don't like having to shock him all of the time when he doesn't listen. i would recommend this product, but just remember that there is NO vibration setting!!"

"Overall I'm very happy with this collar. I've only had to use the #7 setting once and that was when she was in a full blown barking frenzy. For a many wearings after that, all she had to do was see the controller in my hand and whatever command I had given her was immediately followed. But then she started to catch on so I had to start using the 1 or 2 setting (depending on how far from me she was). And this is on a 65 pound Lab. Also I'm doing my training in a 150' X 60' fenced yard.
My only disappointment is that it doesn't give a yellow flashing light when the battery is getting low. Mine continues to flash green, so I have to try and remember how many days have passed since I last recharged it."

"I have had no problems with this unit. I have a Mastiff and it has worked well getting his attention. The only issue is, at times it is not powerful enough for his size. Rest assured he knows it is working, sometimes he just uses his stubborness to hold strong. The buzzer is very effective within the first few uses. That is all that is required now. The shock portion has not been used in 4 weeks.
This unit has held a charge for up to a week and i have used it up to 50 feet so far and it appears to work as advertised.
This is for all breeds but would not use it on a dog under 40-50 pounds. If you have a large breed you may need to add a collar as the one with the unit was not big enough for the Mastiff, he weighs 120 pounds and growing.
For the price I am very happy, I looked at other units and they go as high as $600. Easy to use. If your dog does not respond to this unit, you have one bull headed animal."

"We love the innotek dog collar. We adopted a Brittany from the rescue league, she had been fenced in all her life. We tried to let her walk w/ us and she would take off, at full speed and just run anywhere and we would have the most difficult time catching her. With her innotek 300 dog collar, she has been able to learn the word "come" and she now has the freedom of being off the leash, but we are in control of her distance up to 300 yards, and she will return when called. She loves to swim and the collar is waterproof and she has fully tested it under water! This is the best investment for us and for our dog."

"I bought the Innotek ADV-300 a month ago because I love hiking in the woods with my dog while he's off-leash. Unfortunately, he likes to chase deer and other wildlife. Before we had the collar, he would take off chasing something and I would be left calling and waiting, sometimes for as long as 15 minutes, and all the while worrying that he would be injured or lost.
The Innotek collar has worked perfectly for us. My dog stays closer to me while we hike, and if he takes off on a trail usually the tone is all that's needed to bring him straight back. Occasionally the trail is so hot that I do have to shock him briefly (level 2 is more than enough for my 94 lb dog), but I have high hopes that before long that will become unneccesary. My greatest hope is that eventually we won't need the collar at all - but as yet that hasn't happened (although I adore him, I must admit he is rather dense and a slow-learner).
The collar has been in very wet conditions (snow and water) and has performed just fine. It works through thick brush at long distances. If I stand at one end of my house it will go through the walls to reach the other end of the house with no problems. The battery life of the collar is great - I used it a dozen times before charging it and it showed no signs of being low. I bought a set of replaceable batteries for the transmitter but haven't had to use them yet.
The syncing of the collar with the transmitter is the biggest problem. You need to sync them everytime after the collar has been turned off or on the charger. The first time I used the collar I was extremely angry and frustrated because I thought it didn't work - turned out I just didn't sync them correctly. I suspect that many of the negative reviews about the product on this site are due to syncing difficulties. Once you've figured out how to do it, it's just a minor inconvienience and it's always easy to test to make sure the collar is working properly (a test light is included in the package or you can just watch the light on the collar which pulses red during a correction).
It is also very important to check your dogs neck often to be sure he isn't injured from the collar. A year ago, while I was working as a vet tech, I saw a horrible case of pressure necrosis from a shock collar, and so that was one of my major concerns about this product. After using this collar for about 4 hours, I checked my dogs neck to find that his neck was red and irritated where the prongs had made contact with his skin. I was very concerned, and called the toll-free number in the how-to guide. A live person talked to me after a short wait and suggested I loosen the collar and use the longer prongs (provided) after waiting a couple days for his neck to heal. My dog has medium-length hair. His neck cleared up after a day and there's been no further irritation, but if I hadn't been so vigilant about checking his neck things could have been much worse.
Overall, the positives far outweight the negatives and I'm very happy with the collar. I'm not quite sold on it for training sit, down etc, but as a means of inforcing recall for an off-leash dog I think it's wonderful! I wish I would have bought it long ago."

"My dog is roughly 4 yrs old but still acts like a puppy. He chews on everything, mainly my wife's clothes, pillows, blankets, anything that is my wife's. He also likes to take off and explore the neighborhood when we let him out, which led to a lot of me going through yards and cleaning up the presents that my dog left. Since i started using the INNOTEK® Smart Dog ADV-300 Advanced Trainer my dog has become a different dog. I've only had to shock him once or twice before he got the point of the collar so now when ever i put it on him he calms down. All i have to do is press the tone button and he comes and sits down at my feet. As far as him exploring the neighbors yards, i shocked him once when he took off and now he will sit at the end of my driveway waiting for me when i get the mail. My dog is a 25lbs Cocker Spaniel so a low power setting has the required effect that i was looking for. Over all a great training tool for the price. I highly recomend buying one if you are trying to train your dog."

"We have used this collar for a couple of weeks and what a difference, our lab is a changed dog! She comes when she is called, she no longer wanders out of the yard, she stays out of the trash can. If you are having trouble training your dog to listen when she's out of reach then this collar is for you!! The only thing is that with our lab her coat is so thick that we have to clip the hair on her neck in order for the collar to work, but I don't see that as a problem. Oh and it's water proof - how great is that?!? No need to worry when the dog goes in the water!"

"Pretty good investment. The only thing seems to be that the remote has to be in front of the dog to work effectively. No good at all when trying to use when the dog is running away. I have had the collar about a month and really have only had to use it about three times, but never the full amount. I have a full male and live on a farm and sometimes my dog would not respond. This collar has definitely improved his obedience to my verbal commands.
One other note-the device is supposed to be good up to 300 yards. No way!-conditions must have to be absolutely perfect and completely flat for that to happen. Probably 100 to 150 is tops."

"My husband and I have "rescued" several breed of dogs from several different backgrounds and never had a serious problem retraining until Knox a 2yr Pit Bull rescued from the local pound. He was not a bad dog by any means but had a very short attention spand, no concept of "come" and a weakness for his horse buddies.
He would cross the road to the barn/pastures to see them, take off to romp with them in the morning (often making us late for work) and sometimes wondering off just out of site in our pastures to investigate something interesting. Calling him never got his attention unless you right next to him and that was still iffy.
Once we starting using this collar Knox started to anticpate that we might be calling him so he stayed in closer range. He also realized that once called he needs to acknowledge and head back to us. It has also stopped him from crossing the road on his own and his morning jogs with his horses. He is now more attentive to us which sped up the bonding process. Hard to bond with a dog when you are constantly discipling him.
This collar has 7 setting levels, a booster button that jumps 2 settings instantly (we like to start low and reinforce with a boost when needed) it has a tone button but he ignores it :), the collar is directly rechargable (very nice feature) and by connecting the two red dots on the collar and remote it turns the collar off saving the charge. We use the collar 2-3 hours a day and the charge lasts well over a week.
It has been a month of use and we have had nothing but great results! He has actually learned what is expected, what is not tolerated and we barely have to shock anymore! I have already recommend this collar to friends!"
