Smartwool OTC...the bomb,October 27, 2009
By BucksDucksandTomsfrom Southern Illinois
"I'm a huge Smartwool fan. I wear rubber boots for scent control while hunting whitetails. These socks keep you warm and are great at wicking moisture. They are extremely comfortable and dont slide down as you walk. These are the best cold weather hunting socks I have found."

Wonderful socks,February 9, 2009
By Williecmofrom Shelbyville, KY, Work as a Consulting Forester
"I love these for deer hunting in cold weather in my knee high rubber boots. I got tired of washing the pair I got last year every night, so I ordered 3 more. During a recent power outage, I gave my wife a pair to wear around the house. She said they were thicker than her bedroom shoes. It was hard to get her to take them off. They cost a little more than I'd have liked to pay but I bit the bullet and got them anyway. I mean what's the price tag on comfort in a deer stand?"

Warmer than electric socks, plus no electrocution,January 6, 2009
By MarkinNorCal
"Smart wool really thought these socks out. Cushioning in all the right places and elastic right where you need it. Unlike many others, these tall socks stay on and remain suspended above your calf. The bottoms are loaded with warm insulation and kept me warm when busting ice in the decoys on a cold duck hunt. They also breathe exceptionally well and allow your foot to sweat properly. Outstanding product."

Best socks you can buy,January 5, 2009
By rmreinkefrom Hastings, MN
"My friend recommended these to me and will never buy another pair of hunting socks again. When hunting or ice fishing, my feet get so warm while walking around or setting up that they would sweat, then get cold. Not anymore!"

Great Socks,December 31, 2008
By Rob226from Billings, MT
"I first discovered Smartwool Socks on my first Montana deer hunt. I was wearing hiking boots that didn't ride very high on my leg and I stepped into a stream right after sunset and I was immediately soaked. I had about fifteen minutes of walking still to go to get to the truck in snow and cold temps. By the time I got to the truck my socks were dry. NO LIE! I was instantly sold on them. So when I needed a thicker sock for cold hunting days I took a look at what they had to offer. I like the Over the Calf style because they are less likely to slip down while hiking through the mountains of Montana. I was equally impressed with these socks. I wore them with my Kenetrek Montana Extreme 400 gram thinsulate boots. I wore them Duck Hunting last week and had to hike through 4 foot snow drifts for several miles to get to my blind. I couldn't get the truck through the snow to the parking spot. After hiking through all of this cold snow I ended up standing for several hours in the near zero temps and my feet were warm. If I had been wearing normal weight socks I don't think this would have been the case. I didn't even feel that constricted with the size of boot I purchased with these heavy socks on. I recommend these to anyone who likes to hunt in severe temps."

Average sock,December 13, 2008
By Slapshotfrom Bel Air , MD
"Was looking for a high performance sock to provide a tad bit more warmth without using toe warmers . After hunting all day in 30 degree ( not that cold) with 1200 gram boots with adequate air space I actually had to add toe warmers. Was using Cabelas brand heavy socks which so far are better than these over priced and over hyped socks ."

"SmartWool socks are the ONLY socks I'll ever wear again for hunting. One pair of SmartWool socks, and a well insulated, waterproof boot is all you need. I gave all of my other hunting socks away, as SmartWool is the way to go!

socks,March 25, 2008
By Anonymousfrom upper michigan
"These socks were worn twice, washed one time and already had holes. Maybe I just got a bad pair but for the price they did NOT hold up at all. Would not recommend these to anybody. I do believe Cabela's has some of the best items on the market and maybe I just got a bad pair but would not try these again for the price. Cabela's is very good at giving a full refund on defective items."

heavyweights with comfort,February 20, 2008
By Ianhntrfrom Canada
"Having diabetes I have alot of trouble with my feet. Add to this the harsh weather we get in central Canada, especially this year as the temp outside this morning closes on -35. These socks are the next best thing to sliced bread, recomend them to everyone/anyone needing warmth and comfort."

Can't handle cold feet in the winter? Me either,January 25, 2008
By unwillingwinterpersonfrom Snowbelt area, Ohio
"I have finally found a good winter sock. I stand on an unheated cement floor all day long. That kind of winter cold goes right through your boots and into your bones. I have experimented with lots of different kinds of socks and am happy to report that my feet actually stayed warm with these socks. I am overwhelmingly relieved."

smartwool OTC,January 9, 2008
By likedthem
"I am a fan of smartwool socks and these are just fine - all that is advertized - the price is high but I would say that if you were looking for a coat that would keep you warm - dry etc you probably would not find it at the lower end of the price scale - same for the socks in my opinion. For those who hunt infrequently go ahead and buy them - for those who hunt frequently try a pair and decide."

Worth Every Penny,January 8, 2008
By Manbearpigfrom New York, N.Y.
"I own a bunch of different wool, polartec, and blended fabric winter socks that I've worn for trial and some error. No other sock compares to this one. The product was above expectation and what's printed on the sleeve. They are the most comfortable and warm socks I have."

socks,January 7, 2008
By Larrybowhunterfrom WVa
"I bought them for my son to use because he is a diabetic and gets cold easy. He really liked them. The only thing I would change is to have more of a snug fit maybe a more elastic material on the calves. We walked quite a bit and they kinda slid down a little. Overall they kept his feet warm."
