"After recieving a gift card, I did alot of research on characteristics of the different types of blades and read reviews that people have written to find out the hidden agendas of each knife. I found that most high-end custom knives are built with the 154cm steel because of its high quality, durability and extreme edge retention properties. I went to the nearest Cabelas store and handled several knives. I chose Folding Alpha Hunter with 154cm blade for its features, quality and written reputation by owners. "I have owned this knife (rubber handle, no guthook) for a while. Dont know how it would perfom on a hunt (not a hunter), but for everyday carry I have found this to be a very, very nice knife. It opens extremely easy and intuitively, yet is secure when closed. Heavy and thick blade for prying. The knife is heavy and bulky, with amazing build quality, you will never be in doubt about if it will stand up to a job and you will always know its in your pocket. If size/weight scares you, get a spyderco or the Buck Alpha Dorado mini hunter."

"I have the rosewood version and the blade is sound and sure through lots of use. I've touched it up with my diamond hone and it's like new. "This knife is hands down my favorite. The quality is top notch, the edge was very sharp out of the box and the gut hook works very well. I field dressed five deer in 2007 with this knife, had no issues at all, and the blade is still sharp. As with all Buck 420HC steel, it is very easy to sharpen when need be. I have not figured how to sharpen the gut hook as it is a very unique grind shape. (still very sharp) Clean up is a snap with hot soapy water and a tooth brush, as goop gets everywhere after field dressing with a folder. All in all my favorite hunting knife! Good job Buck!"

"This knife is absolutley fantastic. I've had mine for a little over a year now and its still going strong. It has a great feel in your hand, has a strong and durable blade that keeps an edge. Its has some weight to it but just the right amount to make a great all around knife. I use it for everything from day to day things to cleaning animals. I would not leave home without it!"
