Great knife,

"This is a great knife and holds a good edge all of the time. I use it strictly for gutting and it is super easy to use. Buck needs to improve their sheath for this knife I had to buy a leather one as the stitching came loose on the sheath that is supplied when you buy the knife."

"Although I have owned this knife for just a few months, I believe it will be as dependable as the other Buck knives I have owned through the years. This knife is constructed beautifully and feels good in the hand. The sheath compliments the knife as well as being well made. At a mountain event last week I had at least a half dozen positive remarks on the knife I was wearing, even though I was in a Chile Cook-Off. I have a feeling that this particular knife will be at my side for many years to come!"

"My husband bought this for me and I really quite like it. Granted, I'm not a knife expert (!) but I'll be packing this knife with me on all of my future hunting trips! It seems to hold it's edge really well and I like the camo-colour handle and the blade design.
The grip fits really nicely in my (small & girly) hand and it's light enough that I hardly notice it in my pocket."

"I own the alpha hunter w/o the gut hook. It's a good knife and holds an edge well. The only problem I've had is nicking the blade on a pelvic bone requiring me to re-edge that section of the blade and because of the blade belly it was difficult to get the right angle."

"Excellent knife. I used my buddies to help him butcher my first deer. Knife has great balance & an outstanding handle design. The blade also held up well. as others have said, the scabbard does leave alot to be desired.

"I own a simple Buck Alpha Hunter, without the guthook. This is a very stout knife that will hold up to any task that a hunter could find himself or herself in. I have found it to be very easy to sharpen, and because of the wide sweep of the blade, easy to skin game with as well. The only thing I find troublesome with the knife is th belt loop on the sheath. Its a little smaller than I prefer (only a bit over 1") and is sometimes hard to attach to gear. This is outweighed though by the sheer versatility and durability of the knife. I would recommend this product to anyone, especially young or beginning hunters as a good go-to knife."

"I bought this knife as a gift for a friend but looked at it before wraping it up and I'm impressed. It is comfortable to hold and offers a secure grasp and is sharp enough to shave the hair off my arm. Quality of the finish is high as well however the supplied sheath leaves alittle to be desired in the area of blade retention. When on a belt the blade stays firm but when you have the sheathed knife in hand the cutting area of the blade can become exposed it you jostle it. This is the only reason I withheld the final star but in balance I'm thinking of buying this knife for myself despite that trifle"

"I have used this knife twice since I purchased it and am extremely satisfied. The knife not only arrives very sharp but maintains a sharp edge even after I have used it to hack through bone as if it were a machete. The knife has great balance and the gut hook works like a charm."
