Good Quality, Good Value., October 4, 2009
By dvmweb from MI

"This is only the second Beeper Collar I've used in the last 25 years.

I find it quite effective. It has gotten full of mud and cleaned up fine. I use it on my GSHP for grouse. I don't mind that you have to open it up to change the dip switches for modes. You have to open it to change the battery.

I use it only on point mode and also have a bell attached to my dog's collar as a means to hear where she is moving. When the bell quits, then, the collar begins to beep. I like it that way.

I am going to buy one for my other dog.

Tr-TRonics II Beeper, September 22, 2009
By gungho from Oregon

"I have 3 pointers and run all 3 with beepers using the G2 Upland collar system. I only stay with TT because I am locked into TriTronics (too exspensice to switch 3 dogs to Dogtra or I would).

The beeper turns itself off which is a problem when a dog goes on point and there is no sound. Sometimes it turns itself back on (and never when you want it too).

But my biggest gripe is the failure rate. These beepers last about 2 years of light hunting (I hunt about 14 -17 days a year and run the dogs about 4 hours per hunt). I just had my 2nd one fail (The failure mode is the beeper stops accepting commands from the trasnsmitter).

Overall, this beeper is a piece of garbage.

So-so, August 2, 2009
By mnguy from Minnesota

"I have used this beeper a few years now. Quality wise it is a far cry from the early tritronics beeper. It shuts off by itself frequently. Sometimes it starts beeping uncontrollably and must be shut off and re-started. When on point mode it starts beeping too soon."

beeper collar, January 20, 2009
By haftohunt from Neligh, Nebraska

"I have had good luck with these collars overall. I have 3 of them 1 is 5 yrs old and works good. My dogs have put on tons of miles with them, through heavy brush and water holes no problems. the only small negative is they can become to sensitive on point mode. But I have found if you put a fresh battery in the problem is reduced. Also found out if the on off button is pointing forward the brush can turn it off and on. this is easily solved by pointing the switch to the rear of the dog."

Tri-Tronics Generation II Beeper Collar, December 30, 2008
By Draht48 from Peosta, Iowa

"This collar is ok, but I'm not sure I would buy another. It seems to have some issues with cold, damp weather that cause it not to always work quite right. It has malfunctioned several times, where I had to turn it off & on repeatedly to get it to work but I have overlooked it because it works ok under normal circumstances & there is not a lot of add-on collars out there to choose from."

Tri Tronics Generation II Beeper Collar, November 18, 2008
By Pointman4dsf from St. Joseph MO.

"The collar was alright but it goes from track to point to easily. If the dog stops for a short time to check scent it goes to point. This seems to get worse after it gets wet. My friend has the same collar and it does not seem to have as much problem with track to point issue. Maybe this one is just a little to sensitive. It is also difficult to change the modes and tones. You have to remove the back of the collar and then find something small enough to make the adjustments."

Solid Beeper Collar, November 9, 2008
By Blueridge from Richmond, Va

"I purchased this beeper collar after several good years of use of one of the previous models of these collars that failed. The collar is easy to turn on and off with the external switch and provides a loud, distintive tone that easy for me to hear and yet does not seem to bother my dogs. However, I would be happier if the frequency of beeping could be reduced from every few seconds to every 8 to 10 seconds."

Beeper Holding Up, February 8, 2008
By DennisTheMenace from Claverack, New York

"I guide on my pheasant preserve every weekend so I put my beeper collar to the test. I had been buying the Cabelas collar but was only getting a season out of them. Decided to try the Tri-Tronics and so far so good. I like the on/off button placement. Changing the modes is awkward as you have to use a screw driver and open the battery compartment but if you don't need this feature is is an excellent collar. Time will tell how it holds up."

Still looking for the perfect beeper., December 24, 2007
By westmichjim from Western Michigan

"I have had one of these since they changed to Gen II. I like using the beeper as long as the weather is not damp and cold. It works OK then. Perfect for early season Grouse and Pheasants.

When working in snow or extremely damp weather, the collar will change signals on it's own, or signal that the batteries are low even when I have just changed them. I have complained to the company and they have sent me two different backs to use. They still leak moisture.

The speaker will sometimes fill with snow and make it difficult to hear the collar in snowy and windy conditions. Makes hunting in high cover like Switch Grass very difficult and frustrating.

Waiting for a remote beeper that is the same size as the Gen II that has it's own remote. I use a Dogtra training collar with NCP and don't want to give up the vibration feature for the built-in beeper feature.

Tri_Tronice Beeper, October 30, 2007
By shorthairlab from Michigan

"The beeper is great and works with the Generation II controls. You are able to turn the beeper off and on but you can not change settings remotely. On the point only feature you are not able to do a locate tone to see where your dog might be working unless you have the beeper on and running."

Good Beeper, November 23, 2006
By drahtman from Montana

"I use this beeper in conjunction with the Classic 70 G2 Trainer.
Pros: Functionality is improved over stand alone beepers with the ability for on/off from the Trainer transmitter. Turn On/Off from transmitter both give an audible signal. Turn on from collar is easy and positive (audible signal is heard) with large button and is accomplished with gloves on. Tri-Tronics realiabilty. Trainer receiver and beeper device on one collar is a great function. Loud signal really great on windy days.

Cons: Beeper modes still require opening unit and setting switches while other manufacturers accomplish this with transmitter buttons and include "locate functions" with the press of a separate button on the transmitter. Awkward to hold a gun, change transmitter switch to "A" and then turn beeper off or on. (this is function also serves as a quasi- "locator" but also awkward) I have forgotten to return the transmitter to shock mode. Turn off at collar should also give an audible signal, but does not.
Good beeper, 3 stars for lack of functions that would make it a "great" beeper.

Tri-Tronics Generation II Accessory Beeper Collar, November 22, 2006
By Cartouche from Montreal, Canada

"I purchased the Tri-Tronics Generation II Accessory Beeper Collar so I could find my dog or know were he is at all times. The features of the collar are great. We can configure many options on the collar. Volume : High, Low., Mode: Range and Point or Point Only., Run Tones : Single, double, triple, tracking tone., Point Tones : Single or Hawk Scream. It is rugged and easy to configure. Putting the collar to the real test, in the open field the collar works great since the dog can run free and let the run tones sound and when he stop the point tones sounds. When hunting in the woods, my dog is not running all the time and the collar thinks the dog is pointing since the movement is less than when he is running so we often ear the Point sound when we hunt in the woods."
