Good radio,September 10, 2009
By john101from somewhere, usa
"This radio has excellent sound from what looks like a single speaker system. I purchased this to use while camping and boating on the lake. It has performed very well. The sound audio is good. The channel selection knob has a fine tune feature which really lets the user lock in on a particular station. The only way to make the tuning any better is to switch to digital tuning which would require more voltage and power.
Takes a lot of cranking to fully charge the rechargeable batteries that were provided with the unit. The unit will run without any batteries installed. You just have to crank the handle about 50 turns as it starts to die."

Emergency Radio,August 10, 2009
By GoodKnightfrom Alabama
"This little radio performs well and will be great to have in emergencies when power is off. The ability to charge cell phones should be a handy benefit. It is obviously an older model since it has non-digital TV channels."

"All in all a good radio with interesting features. The only problem is that the signal on fm setting drifts so that one station is heard on many frequencies."

Great radio,May 27, 2009
By flintmcfrom Simpson Kansas
"I bought this radio and was going to use it at home but the reception was so good on it and the tuning so easy I put it on my pontoon instead. It is one of the easiest and nicest AM/FM weather radios I have ever own. When they are on sale again I plan to buy another."

Eton FR300 Emergency Radio,February 17, 2009
By Jimbofishyfrom Bloomfield, Kentucky
"I ordered and received four of these radios, two of which will be gifts to our daughters, just before we got the worst ice storm in history here in Kentucky. The radios function great with the hand crank dynamo. I later put batteries in them. I was able to get NOOA weather reports while local stations were down. I was even able to read by the emergency light. The cell phone adaptor for charging works too. Very handy to have around. A great investment. Plan to use one for camping trips too. Jimbofishy"

Not what it seems,November 1, 2008
By QuemaTanksfrom Apache County, AZ
"I purchased this because it can be used with out electricity or batteries. Just try charging the rechargable battery that comes with it. After some time of cranking the handle at the recomended 3.9 times a second Hahaha! Any way it takes a very long time to charge up. I then ordered the optional charger and it works while plugged in and charges the battery. That is about the only good thing about it. The reception is poor and it is hard to find the chanels you know are there. the scale is way off on this one by 200mhz or so. I have a cheap and I mean very cheap radio that picks up better than this one. If you dont mind cranking the handle while listening then this is for you!. I have checked with at least three different types of common cell phones and not a one works with the phone adapters that came with it."

NO AC ADAPTER,September 25, 2008
By drziffle
"I bought this radio for emergencies, however I use the portable radios I own around the house and garage and don't want to use up batteries. The radio seems to work fine, but requires much more cranking than anticipated. THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT COME WITH AN AC ADAPTER! If you want one you have to order it from ETON, so the total product price listed in Cabelas is misleading. This is the only radio I have ever purchased that did not come with the AC adapter. Since I consider the product to be missing a part and the attitude of ETON customer service was terrible I rate this product one star. Cabelas is a great company. Their customer service is excellent and responsive to my concerns."

LeoF,September 9, 2008
By LeoFfrom San Diego CA fisherman for 66 years
"This is a great little radio, I bought a less expensive one and it was a joke. I couldn't even get the weather channel let alone AM or FM. The Eton gets all three and very clearly with or without batteries. I got 35 min. playing time from 90 seconds of cranking. Great radio!"

Eton FR300 Emergency Radio,June 3, 2008
By Turtle47from Little Rock, Arkansas
"Outstanding radio and has already been put to EXCELLENT use during the tornadoes that hit central Arkansas recently. It went off like fireworks recently to advise of Severe Weather Warnings. My wife mainly uses it in the mornings listening to the TV band while getting ready for work. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 Stars (actually is 4.5 stars) is that I had to go online with Eton and purchase a separate AC power adapter ($12.95 = cost & shipping) to charge the battery for long time usage. All else is A-1. BTW .. I've now bought 2 (plus adapter) .. one for my son in Texas .. they've also needed it recently."
