Cabela's Barn Coat – Tall

A coat tough enough to wear while doing chores on the ranch, yet good-looking enough to wear into town for a night out, thanks to our update on a classic coat style. Our barn coat is made with 12-oz. cotton canvas fabric that's been garment-washed for a soft, broken-in feel. The lining is made from 6-1/2-oz. yarn-dyed cotton flannel. Compare that to the competition's barn coat, which has only 10-oz. canvas fabric and lightweight, cheap flannel lining. Our barn coat also features a cotton corduroy collar and cuffs with two large bellows pockets with handwarmer pockets behind. There are two large chest pockets for storing all the tools or accessories you might need. The coat has one interior pocket for storing valuables and button-adjustable cuffs. Sure to be a favorite. Machine washable. Imported. Tall sizes: M-3XL. Extra 2" body, 1-1/2" sleeve length. Colors: Midnight, British Tan, Black, Saddle.

"I took the advice of a previous writer and spent time watching football and reinforcing the thread on all the buttons so they wouldn't fall off. That said, what a nice coat. I love the texture and the way it looks. It's warm, and the tiniest bit oversized to allow vests, etc., underneath. The many pockets are a godsend to me-I carry a lot but won't carry a bag. I can fit everything in and still feel comfortable. Wonderful. The tan is a traditional shade-actually warmer than it appeared on my computer screen. I continue to be impressed with great gear I'm getting from Cabela's."

"This is an excellent all around light coat for fall or spring wear.

I was pleasantly surprised by how heavy it was - from the description (canvas lined with flannel) I was expecting something lightweight, but the coat is more substantial than I had imagined.

The coat is very well pocketed with a total of 8 pockets (2 inside). The top outside pockets are an unusual design (side opening with velcro) but very easy to use, and although the velcro tabs are small they have proven very secure.

The only thing that I would have liked to be different is the length. I work in an office wear I often wear a blazer to work, and this coat is the right weight to wear over a blazer in some seasons. if the coat were two inches longer it would cover a blazer completely instead of leaving a little flap hanging out. It is the kind of caot one can wear to an office or to the woods - very versatile."

"Just recieved this in the mail. While I love the coat, the size was ENORMOUS. I ordered a XL - Tall (I'm 6'5, 230 lbs) and had more than enought room to be a 3X and then some. Am returning for sure but I do like the coat so will knock it down a size and exchange for a Large. I've never had to do that before... Good looking otherwise."

Nice, rugged coat but tall size is incorrect, August 27, 2009

"I ordered this coat in medium tall, as I am 6'3" and 177 lbs with a slender build. The girth is perfect (note: Do not upsize this coat in expectation of wearing it over layers). However, the sleeves are 2" too long. Given that I have ordered long-sleeved Cabela's shirts in the past and had them fit just fine, this strikes me as a quality control issue, and I plan to return the coat for a refund or exchange."

"great coat. i would like one improvement add a waist high drawstring like an army field jacket. on the slash pockets along the centerline of the coat extend the loop lock over the entire pocket opening on both sides."

"It's hard to find clothing that fits well when you are tall, but this coat fits the bill. I normally buy XL size clothes just to get a little extra room, but this time I ordered a Large Tall and it fits like a glove. The finish is excellent and it is one of the most comfortable coats I have owned in a long time. I liked it so much that I ordered a 3-D camo jacket with hood in the same size, which I am sure I will be reviewing next, and it too fits the best of anything I can buy locally. Cabela's forged a long-term relationship with this customer by simply offering quality, style and comfort that is unmatched.

I wear this coat for work at construction sites and it doesn't get in my way, doesn't get too warm and has lots of pockets to carry items like cell phones, safety glasses, note pads and gloves for a
walk through. It will last me on through early spring in this NW weather. Get one - you will love it!"

"I decided on this coat for my husband for Christmas, he is 6'6" and 210 lbs. I purchased an XL for him and it's a perfect fit. The sleeves are the right length and the length is great for his torso. The coat fits great with a light shirt underneath or a sweatshirt. He loves his new coat. It's lightweight, but perfect for fall/winter in NW Arkansas. The jacket is well made and actually has 2 inside pockets for his wallet and keys. It is lined, but not all flannel lined, just the sleeves are flannel. Would be nice to have a zipper, but for all the other great things about it, it's a steal for the price!"

"This jacket is very well made with heavy weight cloth. I like the fabrics and colour of the jacket. The large pockets with the flaps and buttons are great for carrying stuff. I like to use the slit pocket for my hands on a cold day but I find them to be too low. The lining is heavier than I was expecting but I expect I will get more use from the jacket through the winter. It is very breathable which is great for me as I don't overheat when wearing it.
Overall it is a very good jacket."

"I expected the coat to be somewhat rugged in appearance, as suggested by the picture, but it is fairly soft in appearance. The material is fairly heavy and has a tight weave, but has a soft, brushed feel. As a result I am wearing it as a casual coat rather than a work or sporting coat. Coat is not warm enough for winter wear, but is good for spring or fall, with some room for layering underneath. I ordered the tall size because I have longer than average arms. Turns out on this coat I would not have needed to, because I have the cuffs turned up an inch and a half."

"I used the Cabela's Barn Coat through the whole Connecticut winter, by wearing a fleece vest under it.
It's worked out great. There are plenty of pockets, and it's well made. The only thing I would add is a drawstring waist, so it would look a little trimmer (not a big deal)."
