Our barn coat is made with 12-oz. cotton canvas fabric that's been garment-washed for a soft, broken-in feel. The lining is made from 6-1/2-oz. yarn-dyed cotton flannel. Compare that to the competition's barn coat, which has only 10-oz. canvas fabric and lightweight, cheap flannel lining. Our barn coat also features a cotton corduroy collar and cuffs with two large bellows pockets with handwarmer pockets behind. "Nice coat, heavier than I thought but that's a good thing. The corduroy collar isn't as refined looking as it is online. Would be much nicer with a better made collar. Leather might make it look nicer. Buttons are a bit larger than I'd like. Overall nice styling, great sizing. I normally have to by XL since my arms are long, but I orderd a L and the length was perfect."

"I do have other barn coats, and this one is the lighest one of them all, (i have shirt jaks that are thicker). The style is nice and looks very good, but the black one i ordered is not black, "its dark blue". I am 5'7 and 174lbs and the med fits perfect. If i did not get it on sale i would send it back for a refund, but i do not want to pay for the shiping. I gave it 4 stars becuse it does fit and look very nice, but I would not recomend it as a coat becuse it is very flimsy and light.
Pros: It has a great style to it, and its true to size for a barn coat.
Cons: Too light for a barn coat, and the color,(blk) is not true to color."

"This is a nice coat for the price and looks good and feels good on you. I purchased the tall due to the fact that I ride a bicycle a lot even in the winter. The tall size covers your lower back when you are bent slightly down on the bike and keeps cold air from entering your coat. Very nice product. I am pleased that I purchased it -- not many products you can say that about anymore...."

"Cabela's, you're just showing off now! I ordered my barn coat on Wednesday Oct. 7th; IT JUST ARRIVED TODAY, FRIDAY THE 9TH!!! I only paid for standard shipping; WOW! And I have to WOW! again about this coat. I could not believe how heavy the outer material is and yet it feels so soft. I tried it on first thing and walked outside to show my wife and she was completely impressed with it. I ordered the 'black', and I could not be any happier. I also ordered down 1 size from normal (everybody's advice on here); I'm glad I did or it would be much too big. I'm a pretty big guy (6-1 / 250#) and have a hard time finding the right fit, but this coat fit perfect (even a shade long in the sleeves). The coat seems to be ruggedly built for working, and I have to agree, it is sharp enough to wear out on the town. I'm already thinking of ordering another; one for working, another for going out or going to town. You definitely can NOT beat the price or quality. Thanks Cabela's for another great product!"

"I was in the market for a Barn Coat - you know, something tough,strong and durable that I could wear in situations where I knew another coat would become shredded. I wanted a coat that I could wad up throw into the back of my SUV and forget about. I saw this coat online at Cabala's and boy was I surprised at the Barn Coat I received!
This coat is everything I asked for in a durable jacket and more! Not only is it constructed well, but it is also stylish. I am now torn between using it in a purly utilitarian mode, or using it as a causal coat to use to run to the store. I may have to order another and have one for work and one for casual wear!"

"I have to admit that I bought this coat on sale and haven't yet worn it in the fall to put it through it's paces. That said, it seems like a great coat.
The good: lots of pockets, including two neat chest pockets on the outside that I look forward to using for quick-stash items like my cell phone. Decent sized handwarmer pockets with flapover outer pockets. Nice to have the 2 internal pockets as well. The material is soft, yet seems durable. Nice also for a company to offer black as a color in a barn/field coat
The bad: This coat runs very large through the chest area. I normally wear a men's large, which gives me just a bit of room for layering, and sometimes have to wear a tall to get decent sleeve lengthys, but had to order a men's medium tall (which was nice Cabela's offers this size, since most coat makers don't) after order a large first, returning it, ordering a medium and returning it for being too short in the sleeves."

"I tried barn coats from two other companies. Neither had the thick, stiff feel of heavy, durable canvas that I was looking for. This coat's canvas isn't stiff, either, and that disappointed me a little at first, since I wanted to fee that I'd be breaking it in uniquely for myself. But when I put it on, I got over the feeling almost immediately. It certainly feels hefty enough for the light jacket it is; and—I must be exactly the same size as the design model for this coat—because it fits me *perfectly.*
Mine is black, and it's just what I want for workdays and weekend tooling around. But I'm thinking of getting another one in the Saddle color for doing actual work around the house, so that I can keep the black one nice."
