Heavy Duty Reel, November 18, 2009
By Rickdel from Bangkok Thailand

"Great Reel, bought it for my son and in one day we reeled in 16 huge Siamese Catfish ranging from 28 inces to 46 inches! This is a work horse of a reel, the only reason I did not give it 5 stars, is the casting distnace is not as far as our other reels using the same types of tackle and weight. This one avgs about 25 yards to 30 yards, other reels we own double these numbers.

Tight Lines Everyone! Rick

Nice Reel, May 2, 2009
By doowop123 from Baldwin, New York.

"This reel is really good for casting. Even though this reel is more of a boat reel, I had no problems casting with it from the surf. Strong drag, excellent construction, and good gear ratios. I am a Shimano fan, but I couldn't find a Shimano conventional reel that would suit my needs for the surf. The calcutta is too light and not enough drag for me. The torium has too fast of a gear ratio. So I decided to try a daiwa and I love it."

Excellent Reel at a great price, July 14, 2008
By phamf

"Wow this reel is amazing. I got the 30H model. In comparison to an ambassadeur 6000 series reel, it is about the same size in width but smaller than the abu in height. Most of the reel is made out of aluminum which makes it rock solid and it didn't sacrifice weight either being 17.1oz. It holds the same amount of line as a SL/SLX30 series reel, but smaller in overall size. The spool sits down low so thumbing the spool is much like casting a bass reel.
A lot of people agree that this reel, even though it doesn't have a mag, can keep up with a Penn 525Mag in terms of distance.

Pros: great casting for distance, feels like you're casting a bass reel, improved power handle design over the sealine series, compact size, metal construction (feels like a fine watch)
Brings performance benchmark up a notch.

Cons: None. The only thing to make this reel more perfect would be using titanium and carbon fiber parts.

A tank of a reel, November 12, 2007
By Snapperhead from Springville UT

"This is an extremely solid reel. Built like a tank. The crank power is impressive, and the gearing is smooth, with great drag. No handle backplay and a good casting reel. I have fished with Daiwa products for over 30 years. They just keep getting better. Yet again another high quality cost conscious product from Daiwa."

Saltist, April 23, 2007
By OldFool

"Absolutely the best real you can buy for under four hundred dollars. The drag system is smooth and unrelenting. With the braided line I put on the reel I can cast forever. I've owned many different brands of salt water reels but this is my first Daiwa and I must say it won't be my last."

Daiwa Saltist, November 26, 2006
By 678905 from Nebraska

"The Daiwa Saltist reel with 6.4:1 ratio works really well.
The fast ratio has the ability to burn lures in fast but it also
has the power and strength to handle big fish. It will hold 220
yards of 50 lb mono and has an excellant drag system. This
is one awsome reel! I highly recommend it.
