"For the men and women who've always thought about going back or trying traditional archery for the first time this is a great starter bow. Very forgiving, no hand shock, doesn't stack up at all and still a reliable Bear product.

Fred Bear Montana longbow,March 23, 2009
By Vladimirefrom Elyria, OH
"I purchased one of these back in 98. I still have it and it still shoots as great as it did out of the box. The first shot I made with it was a bullseye at 40 yards. After that I knew it was a keeper. Over the years I have looked at and tested other longbows, but none seem as smooth as this. The spirit of Fred Bear lives on in this bow."

Beginner or Veterans will like!,May 18, 2008

"I have been shooting bow for about 20 years now. I have had compounds, recurves and longbows. This bow by far is my favorite. No frills, no cams, no pins, no peep sites. Just strait ahead natural shooting. It's light weight, balanced and an eye turner at any range or event. Classic lines and forgiving nature (considering that it is an all natural shooting bow) make it so much easier to shoot than most recurves. I have made my own self bows and I can tell you that making a long bow that feels this smooth takes talent. I am proud to carry this with me and hope to become proficient this year for muleys! Fred Bear products come through again."

Bear Montana Longbow,April 5, 2008
By PinelandsHunterfrom Manchester Twp., New Jersey
"I have been shooting a compund for 25+ years. I started with a longbow and recurve when I was younger. After wanting to go back to traditional shooting I decided to go with a Bear product. After receiving this bow from Cabelas I started to shoot. I am very happy with my decision and feel this bow offers the archer to step back to where it all began, with a longbow. This bow is well constructed and shoots extremely well. There is no handshock. The speed and quietness of this bow is impressive and it is fun to shoot. All of my accessories were also purchased through Cabelas ( cedar arrows, field points, broadheads, finger tab ) I can't wait to atart hunting with this bow next season."

Fred Bear Montana Longbow,January 20, 2008

"I am a 25 year compound bow shooter/hunter making the change to traditional, and I can't say enough about the Montana longbow. I strung the bow, and began shooting, and within 10-15 arrows, I was putting arrows in a 6 inch circle at 15 yards. The bow is fast, quiet and has very little handshock. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a moderately priced production bow."

Longbow,October 9, 2007

"Overall the bow is great. It is a very good bow for ground hunting, but the 64 inches is still shootable from a tree stand. Change the monofiliment serving on the string to a fabric/string type serving as soon as you get it."

"This bow shoots very flat at 35 yds or less. I am shooting a 64lb draw at 29 inches. It is a little stout for a beginner, but an excellent and fun bow. I can't wait to hunt with it"

Bear Montana Longbow,February 11, 2007
By MRFranksfrom Northern California
"I bought this bow on a lark, as I wanted to try out Bear's version of a reflex/deflex longbow (the local pro-shop only stocked another brand of longbow). I've shot other longbows, but the handshock was too severe to enjoy shooting. When it arrived, I set it up and began shooting it in my indoor 40' range. What a pleasure to shoot--very little handshock. I've shot this bow hundreds of times over the last four and a half years using aluminum, carbon and wood arrows--"off the shelf", and am truly amazed how consistent and accurate it is. Longer than my recurves of the same poundage, it is by far my favorite bow. Would I buy another one? Yes--in 60# draw weight."

By Rick9from SE Ohio
"This bow bespeaks quality, true quality. I am amazed at the craftsmanship put into this bow.
I would not hesitate to recommend this bow to anyone looking to get into traditional archery as this bow will provide many years of service,
It shoots with almost zero hand shock and is a good looking bow.
