"bought for my 13 year old son, works as advertised. he purposely jumped off half way up ladder stand to see if it would catch. It did. Only negative i see is when he's in the stand it won't lock when he stands up or bends forward. He doesnt feel the tug like you would with a harness strap connected to a standard tree strap."

"The idea of being attached up and down the tree is great, got this for my 12 year old. Great piece of mind even though were using very safe double wide ladder stand. Problem is the thing rarely retracts on its own on this type of setup. I often have to climb the ladder after my kid is down to get it to retract. I bought two of them and they're both that way. Kind of defeats the purpose. Just needs a slightly stronger spring I guess."

"Although somewhat expensive, you can't really put a price on your safety. This product is easy to install, easy to operate and provides a piece of mind when climbing up and down out of your tree stand. "This is a great device, but you still have to climb to the tree stand first to secure it to the tree. I've climbed a lot of telephone poles and trees in my day of working for the phone company. Don't think this is all you need to get up the tree the first time to install it. make sure you've got a linesman's rope and Safety Harness to secure you while climbing and to secure you while seating or standing in the treestand. THIS WILL NOT KEEP YOU FROM FALLING OUT OF THE TREE, IT'S TO KEEP YOU FROM HITTING THE GROUND. YOU CAN STILL GET HURT BY HITTING THE TREE, LADDER, CLIMBING STICKS. Be carefull out & up there."

"As a child we found a hunter who feel to his death on ground we farmed. There coulden't be a more convincing reason to use fall protection. This is one of the only systems that allows you to be tied into the tree from the time you leave the ground till you return to it. "This will keep you safe from the ground to the stand and back again. The only thing is it could use a better buckle to the tree with a strap and lock. Don't let it scare you away, it is sure worth the money, and keeping you safe while in the stand and to bring you to earth safely. You owe it to your family to come home safely."

"I purchased the Fall Guy retractor for my wife as she was terrified about climbing into her tree stand. We tried different safety systems and found them difficult to use. We just completed a two week hunting trip and she used the new system and was extremely pleased with it. "Thought it was a great idea, so spent the money to check it out. VERY glad I did. It works as advertised, and I didn't even know it was on, most of the time. The freedom of movement is the most noticeable benefit for me. A couple times, I gave it a yank just to make sure it was really working. "In 2006 I fell from my treestand from 16 ft., I shattered my heal and went through 3 mths of healing and another 6 mths of therapy. At the time I did not know this system even exsisted. I am now protected for the accent, while I'm hunting then again for the decent, in other words 100% of the time instead of when I was just attached to a tree 20 ft. in the air. After I spoke with the one of the owners of this company and he explained this system to me, I ordered 2 units. Then after the 2007 deer season I ordered 6 more units and gave them out to some of my friends for christmas. Plain and simple this is the best system on the market to insure your safety. I kept one for myself and one for my son, the scary thing is I fell out of a buddy stand that me and my 11 year old son were going to hunt during rifle season. Please do not let what happened to me happen to you, and for God's sakes don't let it happen to a child, make the investment and be safe this is to great of a sport to have to worry about a fall."

"I purchased four of these devices and placed them in the trees I hunted in this season. They worked flawlessly and are easily attached and detached as need be. My only recommendation is to strengthen the rewind spring in the retractor. If the wind is blowing at all, the strap has difficulty rewinding into the housing. A great, safe device."

"A good product, will catch you if you fall. The only thing with this product is it doesn't stop/warn you at the edge of your stand like the 3' tether will do. The 3' tether will snug up to warn you that you're at the end of your rope but the seat belt like action of the Fall Guy will not do this for you so you will need to use care when leaning out of your stand.
A plus is that you can climb down out of your stand and leave the belt attached to the tree at the bottom and when you're ready to go back up, just reattach the tether and go back up with the assurance that if you slip, it will catch you."

"Very good product for safety and piece of mind...would rate a 5 only if the casing that holds the strap would be sealed better. If left on tree during rainy days the strap inside gets soaked!! Must keep this in mind and take down periodically and pull out strap to dry out...if not, would in my opinion, eventually rot..also be careful moving in extreme cold weather...it get's a bit noisy...other than these two flaws, would highly recommend."

"This is the best hunting safety investment I have ever made. It works like a charm. I use it for climbing into my stand, sitting in the stand, and climbing down from the stand. From the getgo, I'm always safely attached. The carabiner is heavy so in order to ensure the safety belt retracts when I climb down from the tree, I leave the carabiner attached to my harness and the next time I come in to the stand, I simply pull the retractor down with the black cord provided and attach it to my harness. It really gives me a sense of security getting into and out of the treestand. It's worth every penny. Buy it, you won't regret it."

"Excellent piece of equipment, able to climb and descend a tree with a climber tree stand at a faster pace without the worry of falling.
