"Overall, nice addition to my Arctic Cat 250 4X4. As many have said, the mounting hardware was cheap, and I replaced it with stainless u-bolts. I bought the rack mainly for hauling out deer, and this it does very well. I recently had a 125lb doe in it. It looks small, but a warm deer will drop right in and curl up in it. Great for gear as well. Pretty well made, but a few mods may be needed. No problems with steering noticed, even with the extra weight in the back."

"The basket itself is good quality. The brackets that are supplied to attach the unit to the ATV is junk. I had to disassemble gear grips from my ATV and use the metal brackets for the drop basket. Also the cables pulled loose from the tailgate. I had to buy brackets to reattach the cables. When I called Kolpin customer service, I was required to purchase new brackets to reinstall the gear grips. Poor service!!"

"This is a great product and easy to install. Works great with other attachments. My wife and Grandson went on a camping trip and used the tailgate to service the eating area. "Pros: 1. If you haul stuff in or out of the woods on club workdays, being able to set stuff down IN the basket is very nice. Cons: 1. If you have an ATV with a trunk like I do, the drop basket completely blocks the trunk access. Forget using the ATV's trunk whatsoever, unless you're a contortionist. 2. It is somewhat heavy just by itself, and most of the weight is behind the rear wheels. You can definately tell the front end is slightly lighter than usual, and if you haul something heavy like a 50lb deer block, the front end gets really light. I have to always put at least one heavy item in the front basket. If you go up a lot of fairly steep hills on your propertly, I'd think carefully before buying this product. 3. The hardware was very inadequate. I ended up buying Ubolts from my local hardware store to do the installation. 4. Sometimes the allen bolts work their way out, especially if your trails are rough.. You might want to consider some removable threadlocker when you put it together. 5. I use a Treestand Buddy, and I didn't want to put it on the front of the bike which would block my view. Putting it on the rear of the drop basket was tricky because the rear grating wasn't flush with the surface of the pipes. It ended up flexing the grating out when I mounted the treestand buddy. Overall, I may end up selling it and putting a standard ATV rear basket on there that doesn't extend beyond the rear of the bike."

"Overall not bad, but the mounting system was not sufficient. Two of the plastic brackets broke on the first ride and you'll probably need to pick up some additional hardware to make the mount sturdy so that it is supported by the framework and not the wire mesh. Looks like the paint job was marginal as there is already rust appearing in the mesh basket around where the mesh meets the support straps. The pins holding the 'gate' slide out far too easily and will require a modification to keep them in place on bumpy trails. Nice sturdy design, but the important little details weren't paid much attention on this product."

"I found the Kolpin rack with a drop tailgate feature to be perfect for my needs. I use my ATV for both hunting and ranch work. The drop down basket design makes it easy to carry five gallon buckets, or a chain saw, or cattle feed, without having to "strap it down" as you would with a flat bed design. The drop down tailgate allows easy access to cargo and works great. The construction is very high quality and durable, even under heavy use. Maybe best of all, the assembly and installation on my ATV was relatively easy with all parts and tools provided. The only negative that I have found is that the rack is very large and makes it difficult to tow a small trailer or implement without a tow bar extension of some kind. Other than this one negative feature, I find the Kolpin rack to be a great product at a good price."
