"This is a nicely made product that will last for year. I gave it only 3 stars, because it is very heavy to hold over the fire."

Hot dog cooker,
June 18, 2009
By Wenn
from Michigan
|
"I do really like this hot dog grill. I also tried making french toast sticks...work great. The only down side is you can't see how done they are getting and if you have kids who won't eat the dog if it is discolored it is a problem. But if you listen and pull the dogs off when you hear the first "pop" sound it is good."

Dog 'N Brat Cooker,
January 7, 2008
By PhilfromMichigan
from Adrian, Michigan
|
"My wife and I are avid campers and love to cook over the open flame. Cabelas Dog 'N Brat Cooker cooked excellent sausage and bratwurst as it held the juices inside the cooker and allowed us to stuff onions and peppers alongside the meat to be cooked.
Our only complaint was that we tried a corn dog recipe that didn't allow the cornmeal to stick to the hotdog. We can't fault the cooker for this as the recipe did not seem to work with this type of cooking."

They are made of CAST IRON!!,
August 11, 2007
By Scoutingmom
from Northeastern, OH
|
"We have these and other pie irons and they work great! To the poster who said it rusted these are made of cast iron, they will rust if left wet or in areas with mostiure. All you need to do is use steel wool scrub the rust off them and reseason the iron following the directions. If taken care of cast iron will last a lifetime."

Incredible Dog 'N' Brat cooker,
November 27, 2006
By Ocean
from towson, maryland

"I recently purchased a Dog 'N Brat Cooker from Cabelas. It does an awesome job cooking Hotdogs, Brats, Sausages as well as corn bread over the campfire. We have even used it in our fireplace at home. It is so much fun the kids fight over who gets to use it next. Most importanlty it is easy to clean and maintain and is built of quality materials."

Versatile Dog n Brat cCooker,
November 25, 2006
By Rasputin
from Sunnyvale, CA
|
"Having originally purchased the Dog n Brat Cooker for the obvious reason, namely cooking Dogs and Brats, I was pleasantly surprised by its versatility.
Bread sticks are quickly made by using a hunk of biscuit dough, corn bread fingers are a cinch, French toast strips a breeze.
But using it for its orginal purpose is where the cooker shines. Dogs are cooked evenly and quickly without worrying about getting a crispy critter or worse, losing the meal entirely into the fire.
A worthwhile purchase and a welcomed addition to necessary cooking utensils."

Very Cool Product,
November 20, 2006
By Shari
from St. Marys, PA
|
"I purchased the Dog and Brat Cooker this summer and had many friends and relatives asking where I got it. It was defintely the hit of our backyard fires. It is very sturdy and well made and gives the hot dogs or brats a "on the grill" taste. Thanks for such a great product!"
