sharp knife, and easy to use, February 25, 2010
By TonyinArizona from Arizona

"This knife is very sharp. I thought that this wouldn't be long enough, but I was wrong. I use this knife all summer at the mountian lake where I fish with my kids for Trout. It's so sharp and easy to use that I can filet and remove the rib cage off a rainbow trout faster than you can clean a trout. This knife works so well that I can walk up to a fish cleaning station at the lake and filet 12 trout in the time it takes most to just clean them. The best thing is that this knife is really easy to sharpen, with just a couple of passes on a kitchen sharpening stick, and the knife is back to it's out of the box paper slicing edge."

Great Knife, January 12, 2010
By ckwill174

"I have one of these knives already, but i ordered 3 more for some friends and another one for myself...I use the knife for skinning deer and butchering...its great for that...haven't tried to filet fish with it yet....my only complaint is when i bought one in the past it came with a nice leather sheath...this time it came with a cheap nylon sheath...other than that the knife is unreal!"

Alaskan 7.5" Fillet, November 2, 2009
By Jumper from Oroville, Ca.

"I'm a fan of good knives, this one is good Quality as are other Knives of Alasks, but I feel the blade is a little stiff for average sized fish this would be used on. This is probably just my preference, so if you like flexable maybe consider this."

Review 6 for Knives of Alaska Steelheader Fillet Knife

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 4 out of 5
dc, February 25, 2009
By sleepinggood from Duvall Wa

"The knife is very good quality, I think the handle is a little short could be 1" longer, but still is a great knife and works great. The only real gribe I have is the sheath is really poor. The knife doesn't fit in it all the way and is difficult to get the flap closed. I would have gladly paid a little more for a sheath that was of the same quality as the knife. But the knife itself is well worth the price."

steelheader fillet, September 12, 2008
By scubagulf

"Overall, I like the knife. Quality blade (not flexible), nice grippable soft nonslip handle. The knife blade is 440C, high carbon stainless, which can made very sharp. My only complaint, the knife is stated 'online' to come with a leather sheath, it does not. Instead, the knife comes with a nylon sheath with a plastic insert."

Best Knife I have used for a long time, January 28, 2008
By SEG22 from Chatham, Il

"I have been a fan of Knives of Alaska for a long time and have used them mostly for hunting. I have been looking for a good fillet knife to replace the one I have used for years that was discontinued by Case - this is the one! I have tried other brands in an attempt to get a knift that felt and handled like my old knife and all have failed until I tried this knife. It was easy to handle, I liked the feel of the handle and it stayed sharp. I have touched it up between trips to the fish house with a steel and that works Great to keep the edge sharp. I am sure it will need some attention on the stone, but so far the steel have been enough."
