"Works well with black powder. I got a consistent measure each time. While using black powder substitute, I had a problem with powder not dropping down the drop tube. I had to disassemble the unit too clear the jam. The catalog info indicates that it will mount on most stands with the #14 thread. I had purchased an RCBS powder stand for the unit but the adapter that comes with the 55 is too short to mount it on the stand, and the provided #14 nut did not thread onto the 55 adapter."

"The Lyman No.55, with drop tube, is the only high quality, accurate powder measure safe for black powder that I know of. It throws a wide range of charges with consistent accuracy. With this measure I am able to load reliable, accurate handgun ammunition in half the time. Don't load black powder cartridges without it."
