"Description states that the 44/45 caliber belt is "an authentic reproduction" of an 1870's cavalry belt. I doubt that the belts used in the 1870's had plastic liners in the belt loops. Due to the fact that these plastic materials are top & bottom of the cartridge loops any thing larger diameter than a 405 WCF will not fit without using considerable force. In fact to get 44-77 BN Sharps-Remington cases to fit I have had to use a large diameter brass taper punch to open up the loops. 45-70 would have the same problem I just noticed tonight that a pair of loops that I have been using regularly have the stitching come loose & a tear in the canvas fabric. This belt is not an accurate reproduction of the original belt for reasons stated above. It is serviceable & if used for smaller diameter cases ( 405 WCF, 30-30. 30'06 etc) the owner would probably not have too much problem. Cases of 45-70 diameter will not fit without extra work on your part."

"The belt is sturdy, double-stitched and will probably last me for the rest of my hunting days. But the other posters are right, it doesn't not fit a .44 Rem Mag (or spec) into ALL of the holders. Then again, I'm not Wild Bill and I can live with that. In fact, the space you leave about every 8 slots helps the belt bend a little better. I've only taken it out twice and while loading can be a little hard on your fingers, they are snug in the slots and come out with the right amount of ease."

"I bought one of these a few years ago that was great. This one, however, is a poorly made product. The canvass used in the belt is stiff, and more importantly the bullet loops are irregularly sewn. It is nearly impossible to get the cartridges in the loops, and you have to skip some loops because they are sewn small and some are sewn crooked.
Not impressed"

"This belt swallows 38's &357 ammo whole.better suited for rimed rifle ammo. The good thing about it is the canvas doesnt corrode your brass cartridges the way leather does if you leave it in for long periods."

"My belt looks authentic and is sturdy enough, it just will not hold .45-70 Govt. round in every loop, as mentioned. This belt would work better with a belt 'keeper' near the buckle instead of tucking the excess leather under the canvas. It works well for .45 LC and would most likely work for .44 calibers as well."
