"I disassembled the barrel of my Remington 870 and used a rubber mallet to "round" the heatshield to the barrel. Not many "dings" on my barrel as I used a rag where contact sight-lines were no issue. Took some work but it is "tight". I have seen, out there, what seems to be a bolt on unit but it has no sights. Don't know what the sights will produce, it is only a shotgun but I figured, if I can have them, why not? I have not shot anything through the gun yet so I don't know if it is "tight" enough or not. If it moves and jiggles like I have read, (I question their installation techniques...sorry) it will probably be removed and throw into my collection pile. Anyway, Looks Cool! The BG will see Cool! I kinda like that : )!"

"This is the coolest addition to my 12 gauge that I have ever needed. When its 98 degrees outside you want the ole 12 gauge to stay cool this is the way. Its cool looking and cool to the touch."

"This Heat Shield takes a lot of bending and shaping to conform to the barrel of your shotgun. A bench vise and some wide vise grips will get the job done well. I also had to file down the tabs on the rear to prevent rubbing the fore end while pumping the shotgun (says to do so in the instructions, kind of surprised to see). After the bend and file process the Heat Shield does fit well and looks great, as of the time of this review I have not had the chance to fire my shotgun with the Heat Shield on so I cannot attest to it's performance. Overall not the custom fit I wanted but achievable after a little work, it does look good and the Ghost Ring Sights make it well worth purchase."

"I received my ATI heat shield quickly and was excited to put it on. I followed the instructions and started to install the heat shield. I found that no matter what I did I could not install the screws at the front. It seem like the barrel is too thick. I tapped on the shield to try to get it to fit better and it broke. (I was tapping on the rear sight) I gave up and pitched it. My shotgun is the Mossberg Cruiser with the Breecher barrel. I've had good experience with other ATI products. This one was just not for me."

"Started rusting with in 1 month in a dry climate. Product is hard to put on and needs custom work for good fit almost always. product has poor PEMs in the manufacturing of the plastic sights only held on with one screw."

"I recently purchased the ATI Deluxe Heatshield for use on my Maverick 88 12ga... The installation was a bit of a pain, as crimping the shield around the barrel proved quite difficult. It seems as though the shield was designed for a longer, thicker barrel, and there is quite a bit of room for movement even with both screws installed (which is quite a feat in itself, as you have to get it in just the right spot and work at it before you can get them both in). Upon firing the gun, there was quite a bit of movement of the shield, and the rear portion kept popping up and off of the barrel, significantly altering the aim of the gun. I was able to push it back into place and keep a decent aim on the clays I was shooting, but I kept wondering whether it was my shooting or the sights that were to blame when I missed. As far as the actual heat-shielding itself, I went through about 100 rounds of #7 shot and hardly noticed a bit of increase in the temperature of the barrel when I reloaded. This, in my opinion, is the only reliable feature of the shield. One last note, I typically keep my gun by my bedside, both for protection and to keep it from oxidizing (which it would do if I were to store it in an airtight case). Even though it was out in the open, the shield has a tendency to rust, and it's very difficult to clean off the rust as the shield is porous and difficult to remove once it's installed. Overall, the shield looks darn cool and functions decently, but unless you feel you really need the ghost ring sights (which don't stay in place half the time) I would suggest buying a shield specifically made for your gun."

"I bought this for my wife's Remigton 870 tactical shotgun I got her for her birthday. It was easy to install and it looks great. The ghost rings is probaly the best thing about it. If you just have a bead sight you should try this out."

"Have 2,one without the sights on my 20gauge tac shotgun,and this one with the sights on my 12gauge-The sights are easier to see than the stock bead-Just had to grind the bendable tabs down a little so they wouldn't rub the forend-Actual does work,and prevents burned fingers"

"If you have a bead site on your shotgun throw it away and buy this a.s.a.p. I replaced a sightless heatsheild and bead sight on my mossberg 500. This product brought my control and aiming to a whole new level. also pick up the AR style 6 position stock for even more control.I did and I love it."
