"This fly is exelent for any time a year on open water for crappies and bluegills. I use it with a the 'jig and bubber' technique. Some people tip it with a waxie. I use a white colored plastic tail. Sometimes cut a white ballon in 1/8" by 1" pcs and use that. Well made and durable. I wont go fishing if I dont have a few in my box! Good luck!"

"This is the best all purpose lure, for attracting trout, crappie, bluegill and bass. Stimulates the fish into biting, when other fisherman are packing it in.

"I have used Northland Fire-Fly jigs for many years and they are a great lure for any kind of panfish. In fact, they will catch just about anything. I have caught crappie, bluegill, pumpkinseed, and yellow perch which are the fish I normally target with Fire-Flys. But while fishing for those species I have also caught largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, brown bullhead, channel catfish, northern pike minnow, sculpin, walleye, and even a small coho. I always keep a supply of 1/64, 1/32 & 1/16 oz jigs in my tackle box, mainly in Parakeet color."

"I recently purchased the 1/64 oz. pink jig with white feathers and what a crappie bait it turned out to be! I brought in a nice sized crappie on the first cast with this little jig. I've tried the other colors as well but this pink and white combination seems to be the one the crappie want. I kid you not, one day last week I caught a crappie with each cast, seven times in a row! I've very pleased with this bait and wish I'd have bought more than just the one 3-pack of this color when I was at the store!"
