Minn-Kota Breaks Me Up,

"what can you say about a circuit breaker that hasn't been said a thousand times over. Hey, the best way to break your circuit is with a circuit breaker. It's either that or bash it with an axe. Minn-Kota's 60 amp CB takes the axe out of my hands and does it up fine. Why didn't I know about this 40 years ago?"

"Arrived quickly and in good shape. Once you locate a suitable spot to mount the breaker, the installation is straightforward. Have lugs and splicing hardware handy large enough to accommodate the wire guage wire in your boat. A crimping tool helps. Not sure why an in-series breaker needs to be located as close to the battery as possible rather than "where convenient and easily accessible"...
Can't comment much more at this point as far as how well it works. It completes the connection between the battery and the trolling motor so that much is OK. But there really isn't a practical (safe) way to test it.
I haven't located any electrical specs for this breaker. Repetitive pulse currents to the trolling motor probably hit up close to 40 amps, maybe higher in some models. So any breaker (or fuse for that matter) has to be sized to tolerate it. But it's not entirely clear how much protection there really is with a 60 amp breaker. Better than nothing I suppose but what happens if there is some sort of a sustained overload current of less than 60 amps?"

"We bought a new minn kota trolling motor and hooked it up to our existing cables that we had our old trolling motor to, but the new one would only run for a little while so we tried a new battery. once we hooked up the new battery it completely melted the in line fuse, we replaced the in line fuse with another one and got the same result, after reading the book a little closer we noticed that the trolling motor called for a 60 amp breaker so I purchased this one and everything works great now."

"I recently bought a PD55V2 Minnkota trolling motor and was ready to put a small inexpensive breaker in my boat. Then I heard about this. Well, I'm glad I did some research, because this product is worth the money. I'ts larger and far sturdier than the one I was going to install. More suited to the 6 Ga. wire that I used. BUY IT."

"I ordered a new Minn-Kota 55 lb trolling motor last fall with auto pilot and v-2 sonar. I put it on this spring and in the instructions, Minn-Kota recommended this breaker, with the price of motor I thought it would be a good idea. It is easy to mount. The only thing is finding the connectors for the cable, auto parts stores don't carry any that big, specially the needed butt connector. I finally found some at a marine outlet store 40 miles away. This should be included in with the breaker or with the trollong motor. Or Cabelas should offer them for sale in their catalog, and recomend to purchase when you buy a trolling motor or this pricey lil breaker. Used my Minn-kota for the first time today and it is a sweet heart, does everything it is supposed to, and the breaker will protect it from electrical shorts or surges."

"I've got a Minn Kota Riptide and it sees a lot of work on the front of my boat. The last thing I want is unnecessary problems with it. I bought this breaker to protect what I've got. It only took a few minutes to install and now I've got piece of mind."

"Appears to be a great safety feature to protect my MinnKota Maxxum 36 volt trolling motor. I thought I lost the motor before I got this but it must have tripped on an internal overload which has reset itself. I should be protected from any such further episodes and frustrations."
