All the components you'll need to build a rod that will last a lifetime and will be a pleasure to fish with. Using the latest technology available, we created a lightweight, fast-dampening rod that's designed for maximum casting distance. High modulus 98% graphite construction gives these blanks an ultra-sensitive feel with moderate to fast actions. Charcoal blank with semi-gloss finish ensures a rod that looks great and lasts for years. The kit also includes a Cabela's cushioned reel seat, premium cork grip, winding checks and butt cap, Cabela's SLSB Superloy single foot spin guides, graphite arbors, epoxy, rod finish, three thread colors, brushes, and instructions.

"My son and I built this together for him. It is the third kit I have built with my boys. Each of us has a rod we built together and fish we have caught on those rods fishing together. This kit, as were the others, was a pleasure to build. The rod casts and handles very well."

"The kit includes ALMOST everything you need to build a quality fishing rod. The lack of tip-top adhesive meant waiting for yet another order coming in before I could really get going on the project. The price was about what you should expect for the components that were put in the box. Those, in addition to more detailed instructions, particularly for different decorative wraps, would have made this a 5-star product."

"The kit is good and maybe even above average. Obviously not the same quality if you did your own selection. Good for a beginner with several exceptions: Instructions are not the best. Wouldn't hurt to clear up the pictures, they are poor quality and not very descriptive. They can be supplemented by going to one of the numerous websites that have much better instructions and graphics.
Also, the instructions allude to the wrapping thread not needing a color preserver. This ain't necessarily so. My old bottle of color preserver was empty..been a while since I've built a rod.. so I elected to take them at their word and forego the preserver. Bad mistake. Unless the rod finish is put on in perfectly even layers, which is almost impossible for the first coat, the wraps come out blotchy and unattractive. I doubt the fish will mind, but I do from a craftsman standpoint.
Can't say how the rod will fish but it appears to have possibilities."

"Ice on the lake so I can't tell you how it works on the water.
The only problem with the kit was that the tip top was not included.
(size 4 tip tops don't appear to be available localy so I have to wait for the spring trip to the Hammond store before it it totally completed)
Other than that there were no problems, the quality of the individual components appears to be very good. Would I recomend this kit? Well I think it is addicting as I am already trying to decide on what components I want for a fly rod."

"High quality graphite rod and everything is in the kit but the tools to build your own custom fishing rod, and they have the tools to. I've built several from Cabelas kits and also pieced them together from their selection of components and both work great. Thanks Cabelas"

"The rod I purchased was built for my grandson's 7th birthday. He has not yet seen it so it has not been used. I am very satisfied with the blank and other equipment I purchased to build it. I build rods for family, friends, and of course myself. All of the rods I have made have been purchased from Cabela because I trust the quality and have never been let down. I have fished with the people whom I have made the rods for and they have all been very happy with them. I will continue to order from Cabela because, as I said, the quality is always good and I have never had to return anything."

"These complete kits are a super way to being rod building. If you are interest at all . . . start with a kit. Then, after you know the process, you can select the bits and pieces and create your own rod with your own specs. One great thing about a hand built rod is its impact as a gift. I gave this one to a good buddy who taught me a lot about fisihing. As it was a hand build rod, just for him, he was quite touched."

"This is a great kit, to see if rod building is for you. Even, seasoned rod builders will enjoy this kit. It has everything that you would need. The finished product works great. The ultralight rod has great action and feels good. Satisfied with the product, just missing that third spool of thread that is promised on the ad. The directions are very helpful, but could be updated. They work but they could be improved on. Overall, this is a great product and will build another in the future."

"Over all i would consider this a good kit. I have just 2 complaints though. One is that the kit was supposed to include 3 spools of thread and it only came with 2. The other is that this was my first rod i have built and the directions were confusing. You had to look in all different places to find what you need, but for and person who is just getting into rod building I would suggest buying a step by step DVD."

"The finest casting Ultra-Lite I've ever cast.
Cast a 1/64 oz jig head 65 feet
Cast a 1/80 oz jig head 45 feet
Cast a 1/100 oz 25 feet. This isn't possible with most rods.
If you want to present light tackle to skittish trout this is the weapon of choice. With the ability to cast light and far and still feel and set the hook. Great sensitivity, lots of backbone, light at the tip for fast hook set."

"i thought the instuctions were very vague,confussing because the pictures show so many differnt poles, keep it simple step by step from one step to step two and so on.but i figured it out yes and i won't trade it for anything."

"I purchased this blank about a year ago. I purchased the 7' 6" ML Fast action 2 piece blank. I built the rod, and within a month it snapped on a hook set just below where the 2 pieces of the rod join together. I returned it and received a second kit. Exactly the same. Snapped the second one Salmon fishing on a......HOOKSET, It snapped at the exact spot as the first one. Imagine that. The action felt great and the rod was incredibly balanced, but there is an obvious design flaw in this blank where the butt piece tapers to the joint. I returned the second rod and baught a St. Croix with the credit.

Bottom Line: Not worth the money, Spend a little more and get a quality blank"

everything I needed right down to the glue and brushes were included. and all the same great quality I would choose if buying separately.
