"If you like to fish top water...better get one. These can be fished lots of different ways, and hold up well to punishment. Finish is good, I change out the hooks, so I cannot comment on them, but over all, this is a great lure."

"I took 4 of these to the Amazon in North West Brazil looking for giant Peacock bass. I found the big peacocks but could not get a strike on the skitterpops. (8 of us caught over 2,400 fish)
I realize that this was not a great situation to be using for review of the lure but other Amazon anglers have had limited luck with them so I wanted to try them.
I'm guessing that in the correct conditions (salt water) the lure will shine but I do believe that it has questionable design flaws.
I ussually up size hooks/split rings for the big peacocks due to their incredible strength and monstrous strikes. The Skitterpop came with smaller hardware than I would feel comfortable with for even saltwater use.... much less for Jungle fish
What I found was that the lure would not "float" any more weight than the original hardware in contrast to super spooks which will float much larger hooks and rings and withstand the big fish acrobatics while floating and walking beautifully on the surface.
Otherwise, it looks like another piece of rapala perfection....."

"This popper will catch most saltwater species that feed on smaller fish. I have caught stripers and bluefish using this popper. It is best used with a slow popping retrieve."

"The first day that I put on the Rapala Saltwater Skitter Pop on, The third cast I popped it three times and I saw a big wave come from behind the lure and it hit it and it ripped the line off till the 17#line snapped. The drag was set properly so I think that it was a bad spot in the line. The way it felt it would have took all the line off the reel anyway."

"I used this skitter pop in 3 different colors and all three were very successful in landing many Striped Bass & Blue fish in Cape Cod Bay and in the Sound. They are easy to retrieve slow or fast while splashing effectively. I highly recommend them to any one doing medium to light tackle fishing in salt water."

"THIS LURE IS GREAT FOR CATCHING THE RESIDENT STRIPER IN THE SUMMER ALONG THE ROCK JETTIES. EVEN IN THE SUMMER WHEN THE STIPER ARE USUALLY NON-ACTIVE THIS LURE PRODUCES, IT IS VERY SIMPLE TO USE AND EXTREMELY FUN TO WATCH A STRIPER EXPLODE OUT OF THE WATER AND DEMOLISH THIS LURE. "i fished with the smaller skitter pop for a couple of summers before i purchased a bigger saltwater size. i went from catch pike in the mid to low 20s to now catching them at the 40+ inch range. if you want big fish upgrade to the saltwater size and you wont be disappointed!!!"

"I bought this Saltwater Skitter Pop to add to my arsenal of bass baits. This larger plug was used to hopefully entice larger bass or pike to attack. The plug seemed to do exactly that.
When fishing on a small secuded lake, I made several casts close to the lily pads. On the second cast, the water exploded as I popped the plug. I reeled and watched as the large bass on the other end of my line danced and jumped, trying desperately to spit that lure out of its mouth. After 5 or 10 minutes, I finally landed that bass. I wouldn't have had to worry about losing that bass. The bass was hooked solidly with both sets of hooks.
I gently unhooked the bass and briefly lifted it out of the water to see how large it really was. It measured over 20 inches. I gently placed it back into the water, hopefully thinking that I would catch it again another day. The large grin is still on my face.
It seems that larger baits do catch larger fish!"
