Great,October 26, 2009
By PLS56from Foster City, CA
"I have 6 Avets from SX to HX and use them for everything from Rockfish to Wahoo and Salmon to Tuna. They are smooth, there is no drag fade, and they cast well. I have sold everything else and will be all Avet by next season. I use the HX for Wahoo and Tuna to 100LBS and on the bottom for big Halibut and dropper loop yellowtail."

The Best reel under $400,October 16, 2009
By fishhyfrom San Diego, CA
"I have a LX 6.0 that I use for yellowtail and tuna. I have landed hundreds of fish with my Avet and never had a problem. It works great for live bait but doesn't cast irons as good as my Daiwa. I would like to try the Avet MC cast."

"I tournament Kingfish and have used several different brands of reels over the last 8 years. I now have 6 Avet reels and have been very pleased. The size is perfect, I love the high speed and the price is less than any comparable all alluminum reel. The clicker could be louder but all in all 99% out of a 100."

"Great little reel. I use it with 20 pound test line for albacore, tuna and ever bluefin tuna. Works great when the fish are touchy and do not want to bit on heavier lines. Nice 2 speed reel."

love my JX 63,February 21, 2009
By CupertinoFishermanfrom Cupertino, CA
"Reel is awesome. I'm not a new to surgeon fishing, but never had in my posession anything I can compare to my Avet! Drags are smoooooooth, those disks is huge. And I'm able to cast 12 oz a mile when I need. Another valuable thing is: 2 speed. When that dino is running towards your boat you want to be as fast as you can! 6:1 is perfect for that case. Also it takes some time to adjust your style to 2 speed."

By 6dayfishguyfrom San Dimas CA.
"I love the new LX63 2 speed. I filled it with 500 yards of 80 lb Spectra. No problems with the reel, the line will not streach and on a tight drag it will cause the hook to rip out, and you lose the fish. The line cuts through the weeds that the big fish run for."

Avet SX,June 30, 2008
By riorustfrom Malibu, CA.
"I bought the tiny but mighty SX on a whim...after reading some great reviews and trying one. I had it spooled with 300 yards of 30# spectra and a top shot of 20# mono. I have used this little reel on cattle boats for rock fish and halibut, from the So Cal piers for sharks up to 65 lbs, and from the surf for a few monster 50-80 lb bat rays. It handles every thing I throw at it and taunts me for more, becoming my favorite reel in the process.
This reel has more than enough cranking power, its carbon fiber drag is like butter, it casts extremely well and is easy to service. After each use in saltwater I followed the directions and tightened up the lever drag, dunked it in fresh water, put it in free spool with the clicker on and allowed it to dry. 3 years later, it is still running like new.
I will be buying a couple more Avet's this year. A high quality piece, that does what it claims (and more), for a fair price and made in the USA, what more could you ask for?"

GREAT REEL!!!,June 26, 2008
By striperking54321from long island, north shore, ny
"The Avet LX 4.6:1 is by far the best reel I have ever had. The lever drag system works great, the line comes of the reel perfectly smooth, and it has unmatched cranking power. I've used this reel mostly for stripers and blues, and it works great. It's a little bit unsportsmanlike to use this for fluke, because of the awesome cranking power. The reel is incredibly corrosion resistant, which is what you need for the harsh saltwater enviornment, and I recomend the gold color, because not only does it look great, any bit of paint you can get on a reel is good. The handle is very comfortable. This is the kind of reel you will pass down for many generations to come. AMAZING REEL!!"

avet casting reel,June 18, 2008
By jjfrizefrom Hillside New Jersey
"Outstanding product, very comparable to the accurate for a lot less money. Excellent choice for all inshore fishing. I have caught stripers in the 30# range while livelining bunker. The clickers are very good and the drag is smooth. I purchased a duplicate reel immediately. reel is very lightweight and should be spooled with #30 spectra."

Avet Casting Reel,May 13, 2008
By crispycritterfrom Mahopac, NY Fishing Western LongIsland Sound
"I have two of these reels (sx 6/4) and use them for chunking and live lining whole bunker for stripers in long island sound.I like the lever drag which is so much better than a star drag, and the bait setting lets me keep control over my bait. The free spool is excelent. The reel size is perfect. I just cant say enought good things about these reels."

Mighty Mouse,February 10, 2008
By AK47from New York, NY
"I recently purchased this reel and had the opportunity to use it this weekend, fishing for Blackfish. Right out of the box, I knew I made the right purchase. Casting was a breeze, with the cast control system, I had no backlashes. The reel being only 14 oz was the perfect size for all day fishing. When I had a fish on (100ft deep), pulling up that blackfish was effortless. The offset handle really makes cranking a breeze. This is my second reel with the lever drag mechanism and I will not go back to a star drag system. The thumb rest bar towards the back of the reel is an added advantage when live baiting as well as casting. All in all, a great reel for the price. The only con; spending a nice chunk of change on this reel, it would have been nice for the company to include a neoprene case. Can't wait to use it for Stripers."

Designed to last,November 6, 2007
By NickNYCfrom NY, NY
"This seems to be a very durable reel. I like the drag mechanism and the ability to fine tune the reel to the line weight. With several other level wind reels, it took some adjustment making sure I didn't build too much line on one side. The bracket on the back of the reel isn't the most comfortable when live lining bait (which is 80% of the fishing I do)."

Small & powerful Avet SX,September 10, 2007
By Uluafrom San Francisco
"The SX 5.01 is a great value for the price + it's still made in the USA! Trolled for King salmon outside of the Golden Gate, dragging 2.5# lead ball and Rotary Salmon killer day after day. Smooth drag when fighting fish."
