Image of Sevylor® Inflatable Canoes

Sevylor canoes combine the stability, maneuverability and sea worthiness of a kayak with the comfort, looks and styling of a traditional canoe. Raised bows and sterns give these boats true canoe like handling and performance and makes them ideal for navigating fast-moving rivers, lakes, or even the ocean. Rocks, gravel and above-the-surface elements are no match for the double-hull construction, which has heavy-gauge PVC covered with 840-denier nylon and a tough polyurethane coating. Two directional strakes from stem to stern create one of the most stable rides available in an inflatable boat. Raised bucket seats provide optimum back support so you can paddle or fish the entire day without back fatigue. Removable bow and stern storage compartments hold all the accessories you need. Carrying handles on the bow and stern make for easy portages. Motor mount fittings included.
Color: Olive green.

Not bad but dissappointing, September 10, 2009
    By wle4587

"I bought the 2 person Colorado and have only used it one time with 2 people. I took it down the Huron River with my buddy fishing and it definitely is not large enough for 2 people and gear for a one day trip. I am trying to figure out a way to rig with a rod holder. With 2 people there is nowhere to conveniently put a rod down while paddling. One person works pretty well. An anchor is definitely worth having when you find a place you want to fish.

It is great with one person for small lakes or ponds. Except for windy days, it is easy to paddle and control. It is definitely easier to control with kayak paddle than canoe paddles. Don't waste your money on the trolling motor. I bought one now and it is useless unless you jut want to sit and sping in small circles.

I will continue to use this boat alone in rivers and lakes. It seems to be very good quality, just not what I was hoping for.

    nice product, May 9, 2009
    By Dougster from Northern KY

"Pros: portability - folds up and fits in the trunk of a car, takes only a few minutes to inflate with a handpump (purchased separately), well made, stable in the water, seating for 2 persons but another small person will fit, good value
Cons: sits too low to be able to fish comfortably

Liked it so much I bought my own., July 29, 2008
    By BlackBart59 from Ridgecrest, CA

"Having been rather under-whelmed with cheap inflatable boats in the past I steered away from inflatables until my brother let me ride his Rio inflatable canoe down the Green River. I was impressed with the construction and I really liked the protective shell that enclosed the air chambers. It was a tiny bit heavier than other inflatables but a whole lot lighter than a rigid canoe. It floated nicely over the river boulders and absorbed the shock when hitting them rather than resonating from the classic thump of a rigid hull. The Rio is not meant for two people but I took my wife anyhow. Even with both my wife and me, it still managed to glide through the class II rapids with ease. I also liked that it rolled up small enough to fit in the trunk of our car or in the checked baggage on an airline. With gas prices the way they are, and the nearest water is an hour drive, it’s nice to put the boat in the car and leave the truck at home. I was quite impressed with the Rio but I like having my wife along, so we bought the, larger two person version, Colorado. It’s only a couple pounds heavier and still fits in our trunk.
We’ve used our Colorado on river rapids as well as smooth lake waters. Sometimes on the lake we’ll even turn the front seat around so we can face each other. Although they don’t handle quite as well as a rigid canoe, both the Colorado and the Rio handle quite nicely for an inflatable. Some people complain about poor tracking but the newer models have a removable rear fin which seems to help them track better; at least they track fine for me. Due to the wide inflatable sides a canoe paddle doesn’t work nearly as well with them as a double bladed kayak paddle. They’re also not as fast as a rigid canoe but my wife, our dog, and I all really like ours. (Yes, our dog even rides the rapids with us. You can tell he likes it because he gets all excited when we put his life vest on him.) You can buy a better canoe than the Rio or the Colorado but expect to pay a whole lot more for it. I would definitely recommend a Rio or Colorado for anyone interested in an inflatable canoe.

great for small lakes, March 2, 2008
    By carney3 from Wisconsin

"I bought the previous version of the Rio two years ago. I keep it in my vehicle, along with all accessories, and hit the small lakes in the area on my way home from work. With a pump attachment to my car lighter, it inflates in minutes.
The Rio has a very comfortable seat and is fairly easy to paddle (kayak paddle recommended), but doesn't keep a very good straight line - effective paddling takes a little practice.
I'd recommend a small anchor for those good spots when pan fishing or bass fishing on small lakes. I also use a shorter ultralight pole. While the paddle can be attached with provided clamps on the outside, there is nowhere for your pole while paddling, so a shorter one helps.
If you love early season bass or pan fishing, this is the one that can get you in there without spooking the fish. Also is good to get in the weeds for bass fishing using weedless lures.
I hooked a 24 inch large mouth last year and it actually pulled the boat to the side until I landed it! Make sure you take a waterproof, disposable camera along too, so you have proof before returning the beauty to his home.

    Sevylor Colorado, October 16, 2007
    By CKinAK from Anchorage, AK

"I have only been able to use this a few times up in Alaska but it has been great so far. It is pretty decent as a lake boat, and works well with traditional style canoe paddles, but I think that it may work a lot better with a trolling motor. It is very rugged and well put together and is not to difficult to fish out of. It has a very rigid feel to it, yet is surprizingly comfortable with the adjustable seats. Overall for an inflatable stye canoe I think this is one of the better ones on the market."

great all around boat, August 13, 2007
    By jcsc from South Dakota

"We bought the boat about a month ago and have used it alot. It is easy to manuver, comfortable and can handle myself and three kids. My 7 year old boys can take the boat anywhere on the lake. I can't comment on white water, but the streams and rivers we had it in seemed to be know problem. For general use lakes, streams ect. I would highly recommend it."

    Nice Canoe/kayak for the $, August 7, 2007
By ADKpdlr from NW Corner of the Adirondack Park NY

"The firrst impression was a decent boat midway between an inflatable canoe and kayak similar to those I have used on the Gauley and New rivers in WV. The instructions provided where poor and NO PUMP used my shop vac to at least make sure the boat was in good conditon but I live in a remote area of the Adirondacks so it would be few days (actually a week) before I could go get a decent pump tp pump the boat up ridgid enough to use.
I just got a chance to paddle the boat Saturday, took it out behind my house to the St. Regis River paddled down to the head of the first set of rapids with my wife (she wasn't up to running them) paddled back up passed the put in point to the base of the upstream set of rapids. The boat did a great job hopefully I will be able to get back and see how it does on the white water (solo) it tracks pretty well but with two people in the boat and I use a kayak paddle I had to be very careful not whack my poor wife on the back of the head!
If your looking for decent boat to paddle the is easy to transport I would highly recommend this one for the price you can't beat it, those boats I mentioned I used on the Gauley and New go for about $1500-$2000 and are in class 3+ water every day, this boat is very similar in quality, I'll be interested to see how it holds up over time!

    Pleasantly Pleased, July 8, 2007
    By JWGinMA from Worcester, MA

"I must admit that I had my doubts about we were about to purchase (the Colorado by Sevylor). But my wife and I were
very happy with the comfort and overall performance of this canoe. It went from bag to lake in about 10 minutes with the help of a manual double action air pump. We were relatively comfortable and the canoe glided through the water well. I was also impressed with the overall construction and durable feel of this inflatable canoe. Would highly recommend this canoe to anyone.

    great, April 2, 2007
    By bee52us from Winkleman AZ

"Tried it out on the Gila river on the weekend. Should have shown my partner flat water first. Started out in the fastest rapids of the trip. After the first (and only mishap of the trip) he got the hang of it. Do not go side ways onto a submerged tree!! The safest watercraft you can imagine. As he found out, even upside down, it can save you."

Rio and Colarado Canoe, December 2, 2006
By Dogg from Americans in South Korea

"After looking at inflatable canoes costing as much as 1500.00 I suggested to my exploring partner that we purchase the Colorado and Rio. I have been a long-time customer and I assured my friend that if we bought the Sevylors (which were at the lower end price-wise) and were dissatisfied we would have no problem sending them back for a refund. When we recieved the boats we were very surprised at the extreme high quality and the many cool features on the boats. Shortly afterward my friend and I embarked on a 3 day test trip from the source of a major natural (undammed) river running from a small village in South Korea (the source) enroute to the mouth in the south of the country. Along the way we encountered all types of river conditions ranging from deep and moderate speeds to fast extremely shallow water. The canoes went up against many obstacles frequently slamming into sudden shallow rocky bottoms, hitting sharp treelimbs just beneath the surface and even hitting on occasion sharp pieces of metal jutting just above the surface. The canoes never skipped a beat. They are really tough and the seating and manuverability gave a supremely comfortable ride. We plan many more excursions along rivers in South Korea and we have no intention of looking at more costly canoes. The Sevylors are an incredible value and tough as nails."

    Pretty Decent, November 12, 2006
By JDJD from Eglin AFB, FL

"This canoe is really a kayak with high sides. Its more comfortable than a kayak but less comfortable than a canoe. Its pretty nice because it stores nicely and is easy to get to any water. I've used it on a lake and the gulf of mexico. On a lake it does pretty well on the gulf it goes where the waves take you.
I couldn't steer worth a darn with a canoe oar but my wife and I can steer it pretty well in tandem. For one person, it needs a kayak paddle.
Lastly, Sevylor's customer service doesn't know anything about this product. They told me that it can't fit a skeg, but their website recomends a skeg (which they don't make). So I bought the skeg they make for there Tahiti model (which supposedly isn't compatible) and it works really well if you secure it down with a couple of bungee cords. If you're planning on buying this model YOU WILL NEED THE SKEG. Otherwise it doesn't track at all. Secondly, both seats can be easily removed so I don't know why anyone would opt for the Rio since its a foot shorter. The boat is very easy to manuever. So the length isn't an issue. Expect to spend at least 80 dollars on a kayak paddle and 10-20 on a pump.
The construction seems pretty good. The material is quality and the three main compartments are pretty thick and protected by nylon or rubber. There are plenty of tie down attachments which could be useful but are also a little bothersome when your paddle brushes them.
If you don't have room for a real boat, this inflatable does pretty well.
