Good blank for the price,January 20, 2009
By Bugman1from Pere Marquette River
"The fish eagle II makes a nice rod for the price. 10' blank has fast action with plenty of power to muscle large steelhead and Great Lakes Salmon. Best matched with medium-large reel for balance."

Unmatched price/performance blanks,May 3, 2008
By Gyozadudefrom Sunnyvale, CA
"These FE-II blanks are great values. I'm a 20+ year Cabela's tackle craft veteran and have lived through the good and bad blanks. The FE-II blanks were always great in action, but considerably more expensive. These new FE-II blanks which came on the market about 2 or 3 years ago kept the great action, actually better I think, and lowered the price dramatically. I've got about a dozen FE-II long blanks in service and I personally think they have actions that rival famous maker blanks costing much more. In side-by-side casting from shore for salmon in B.C. or from pier for bonito in Catalina, we've all been amazed by the power, distance, sensitivity, and the tip-lightness. So far, I've received no user reports on ferrule or blank failures, or any recommendation on changing the actions, and that's for casting and spinning builds. The 10ft GST1006 model makes an excellent distance shore casting rod for heavy salmon spoons or jigs up to 1.75 oz. The 8 1/2 ft GST864 model makes a great surf perching/light striper/halibut plugging spin rod. And the 9ft GST905 works great for general purpose spinning or casting rod for steelhead, salmon, ocean run dollys/bull trout."

Great blank,April 1, 2008
By chromekingfrom Ct
"This a great blank for steelies. I have built a noodle rod with this blank for a cash strapped friend and was amazed about its performance and ability to handle the 12-14# steelhead of the tributaries on the Great Lakes. As a matter of fact, I purchased four (4) more blanks for myself and cut them down to a 10'-6" and a 9'-6" noodle rod. Have not had one break yet, and they get alot of abuse on the chromers. I will be buying alot more to build for my friends. And at this price, one can build a good quality rod for half of what one would pay for already made."

Custom Rod Builder,February 20, 2008
By Brushbuster62from Bowling Green, KY
"I know the Fish Eagle II Steelhead blanks were designed for Salmon and Steelhead fishing. But due to the versitiality of these fine blanks I built them as Crappie Jigging Rods. They have a soft tip and plenty of backbone for lifting the big Crappie out of the brush. I used the 20 lb line class blanks at 10 ft long and built them as Spinning rods. My customer is extremely happy with his new Crappie rods. I would highly recommend them to other builders for Crappie rods."

steelhead blanks,June 5, 2007
By snoutje
"i have built these blanks for trolling. I have them now 2 years and have never had a moment when i did not trust them 100%. I have caught pike from nearly 25lbs on them and had a real fight with the fish but the rod just "went with the flow", and the fish just had to give up and come to the net.
A great feeling"

good blank,May 1, 2007
By trout4brains
"Very good looking blank, very straight, which at 11'6 is rare for a low cost blank, I really like the slim ferrule. Yet to test it on a big fish, but im sure it will hold."

Great Schoolie striper stick,December 26, 2006
By striperchaserfrom RI
"The GST864 wraps up into a nice light spinning rod for small to medium stripers. It throws rubber grubs and small poppers in the 1/2-1 oz range nicely. Great crossover rod for those days where it's just to windy to flyfish."

An exceptional blank,November 28, 2006
By UncleMiltyfrom Portland, Oregon
"I have built many rods on these blanks and have been very, very impressed. I built all of my steelhead side-drifting rods on the 9 foot 6-10# blank and they have caught many fish and perform very well in this application. These blanks are light and sensitive and are finished beautifully.

Ultimate Blank,November 20, 2006
By Jumbofrom Marquette, MI
"I've been an avid steelhead fisherman for over 40 years now. I've gone through various models of rods over that time including bamboo, fiberglass and now graphite. I've fished from the Great Lakes to Alaska and places in between. I started building rods for family and friends as a hobby after I retired. I specialize in mostly steelhead rods. I picked up one of your Cabela's Fish Eagle II Steelhead Rod blanks and to say I've been impressed is an understatement. The responsiveness of the rod is unmatched, even from the high dollar names out there. From drag free drifts detecting the lightest of bites to throwing heavy nymphs into the wind on a strike indicator rig this rod does it all. Never have I been able to take a single rod with to meet all my needs until I built on this blank. When people ask what rod I would recommend from a novice steelheader to a veteran I suggest this blank. Keep up the good work!"
