"I'd never fished with a top-water frog before, but had read that it can be some of the most exciting fishing there is. I wasn't disappointed!! After doing some homework, I read that soft bodied frogs such as this one are best, so I bought some of these in various colors. On my 3rd cast ever with a top-water frog, I caught the biggest bass of my life....a 7 pounder! The strike sounded like a bowling ball being dropped into the pond! I've since caught a 5 pounder and several 2-3 pounders on these. This particular frog works great and as far as I'm concerned, can't be beat for the excitement factor either!"

"I use a lot of frogs over the course of the mid to late season. I have tried several of your frogs but...I always come back to this Southern Lure Scum Frog. It lasts longer than any other I have used. The 1/2 oz model is perfect for long casts yet it stays on top of the pads nicely. Eventually the hooks poke a hole in the body or the legs get pulled thru the body so...I throw it out and put on another. The pumkinseed is the best color in northern WI."

"The heavier ones have a slight gap between body and hook and this results in a few more snags compared to the lighter version. However, I prefer using the heavier ones on the baitcaster, especially when it is a bit windy.
There is a tendency for the hook to dig into the plastic body at times."

"This is an outstanding lure and any serious Bass angler should have a couple in his/her tackle bag. This lure excels in heavy cover like lilly pads. However, I have also heard of people catching fish on them in open water too.
Rig it on an extra-heavy rod with stong braided line. The weight in the butt gives you extra casting distance. Long-bomb it and twitch it back over leaves and lilly pads. Pause in open water holes in the cover. That's when the fish will hit it, and they will hit it hard. You need the heavy duty tackle to drag the fish out of the cover.
I have caught bass and pike on this lure. It is the most fun and exciting lure to fish with. When that fish blows up on it your adrenalibne will start pumping. But remember, in order to get a good hook set you have to be calm and count to 2 before you set the hook."

"I bought the Southern Lure Trophy Scum Frog about three months ago from the cabelas online store. This is by far the best frog I have used. I have caught numerous fish above 4lbs in that time, including my biggest largemouth and a 21" smallie! The only downside is that the bass tear this thing up. My frog is filled with scratches and holes, my weight and eyes have fallen off, and I am now noticing that the frog has started to bring in a lot of the algae and slop I fish it in. But overall, it is a great bait and everyone should have one in their tackle box."

"I use this bait at a local park that I think has the best bass fishing in the whole state. Last Fall I caught 5 bass weighing over 4 pounds in 3 days. This summer I used the trophy scum frog with my neighbor and we casted them at the nearby lillypads. A few secends later it was Giant Bass bonanza and we were hooking the bass left and right but we lost all of them when they dove in the weeds. My neighbor thought they were like catfish because of the way they were fighting and how big they were. But they weren't, they were the giant bass of Crockery lake falling victom to the deadly Scum Frogs."

"I bought the chart. and the white frog. I have caught a lot of big bass on this 5lbs and better. They hit it in every weed possible and they even hit this in open water too! It takes a few tries to get the hang of setting the hook just right, I just do it by feel.. I will say this is the best bass lure I have ever used and i'm buying more of these because there that good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED"

"What I really like about this bait over other frog type baits is the recessed rubber legs. I feel that my hooking percentage is greatly increased because the bass are not impeded by the hard rubber legs that are on other similar lures. This is just a great bait to use when fishing slop or heavy weeds. It slides right through the thickest weeds and causes explosive strikes by bass. Its just a great bait.
