good starter model,

"On the plus side the sd-70 is small and inexpensive.
The cd is also useful. Having two lengths of probes is
good.
On the minus side it uses non-rechargeable batteries,
the on/off switch on the receiver can be difficult to turn
especially when on the dog, the 200 feet range is minimal
at best.
Use it in the house or yard but 200 feet isn't very far if you're
on a trail or at the beach.
The rectangular shape of the transmitter makes it easy to
press the wrong button without looking at it to be sure.
I also found level 3 not enough and level 4 too much so
a few more levels would have been welcome."

Great after quick call to tech support!,

"Out of the box product would not work.
After calling support the next am, the problem was a bent battery contact inside the collar not making good contact. Very quick and easy fix.
Works like a charm and our dog has responded well to the training.
Note that if you have a very furry dog (we have a shih tzu) you may need to trim a small patch on the neck so the collar can make good contact."

"Easy to use. My dog has responded well to just the good and bad dog sounds. We haven't had to use any of the levels of correction yet. this is great for little dogs. Mine are 4.5 lbs to 14 lbs and it works on all 3 of them."

"This unit works well and is compact enough for very small dogs. The only thing I would like to see changed is the on/off switch on the collar, it can be difficult to turn on or off when it's on the dog. All in all I'm very satisfied."

Product didn't work and malfunctioned,

"The product zapped my dog without my finger on the button and then it just stopped working. I can't get the battery case open and on/off very easily. I called the manufacturer and they are reshipping a part. We'll see if it works, if not, I'll be returning it to Cabellas."

"We have a Pug that wouldn't listen as soon as he was off the leash or out of reach. When we first put on the collar it was awsome. Levels 1-3 really didn't do much but 4 made him jump and run right to our feet and sit. He has since improved. He got zapped at least 3 times a day for the first few days and now its maybe once or twice a week. We also have a French Bulldog that is going to inherit the collar when the pug makes it 1 full week with no problems.
Thanks for a great product."

Great tool,

"This has been a great tool for us. In fact it worked so well that I do not think we had to use the shock feature more than 5 or 6 times. Since the device emitts a tone each time you press the shock button my dog began to respond to the tone alone. We could discipline our puggle by tone alone. We completely removed the collar after about 6 weeks as the puppy is now properly trained. If she starts to pick up bad habbits we can always put it back on. If you fear using a shock collar thinking it is too cruel I think you should try this collar. The results are quick and a well behaved dog is a safer dog. I now have no fear of the dog running away from me and running out into the street and getting hit by a car or getting into some other danger.
The ability to discipline the dog at the exact moment they do something wrong makes all the difference. With conventional training by the time you get to the dog to disciple them they do not know what you are scolding them for. Instant feedback on bad behavior is the key to quick learning."

"INNOTEK is a good company. I recieved the product from Cabelas in record time. However the collar would not work. I was unable to contact Innotek during business hours however their customer service worked with me through e-mail. They asked me to try one more thing that was not in the FAQs. I did and e-mailed them the next day that the solution did not work either.
They immediatly sent me a new collar in the mail with a return prepaid postage to return the old collar.
New one works like a charm.
GREAT company with customer service as a priority, something you don't find often anymore."

"ORDERED THIS BECAUSE OF OUR NEW BASSETT. SHE WON'T BE AN ADULT FOR QUITE A WHILE THEREFORE WE HAVE A 50 POUND LITTLE WILD THING. WISH I WOULD HAVE READ THE REVIEWS A LITTLE CLOSER. THIS UNIT DID NOT WORK EXCEPT ON THE HIGHEST LEVEL. BY THE TIME IT DID HIT HER IT WAS TOO LATE AND SHE LEARNED NOTHING. THIS IS DEFINATELY A "TAKE A CHANCE " UNIT. SEEMS LIKE 50% OF THE UNITS ARE GOOD THE OTHER BAD. THE GREAT THINGIS THAT CABELAS STANDS BEHIND EVERYTHING THE SELL. FROM THE BEGINING AT THE GARAGE WHERE THEY STARTED THESE CABELA BOYS HAVE DONE IT RIGHT. THANKS"

"I purchased the collar for my 6 month old boxer pup.
I have a day care in my home and was having a bit of trouble with her jumping up on, and chasing the children.
The collar is a gentle way to stop unwanted behaviors.
The low settings, coupled with a verbal warning, work great as a reminder to her that she is headed for trouble.
After a couple of days of using the collar, I needed only to put it on her and speak softly when she starts to jump on or run after the children.
It has worked much better than chasing her aroyund, shouting commands at her and ultimately, keeping her on a leash.
She is so happy to be in the yard with the children and has learned her limits of play with them."

"I have a male puggle and this collar does not work well on him at all. It has worked a couple times but isn't reliable at all. 99% of the time, my dog doesn't have a response to it at all. We even tried shaving a spot on his neck thinking the prongs weren't contacting his skin well enough through his fairly thick hair, but it still doesn't work well."

"My husband is able to get the dog to listen, however it's not in my nature to be dominating. This training collar has saved the dog from being given away! If you are concerned about the "shocking" believe me when I say that levels 1 and 2 are nothing much. Our dog usually responds very well with 2. 3 is like a shock you get in the house. 4 will get your attention VERY QUICKLY. I tested these out on my hand as I was concerned that I would be hurting the dog. Thank you Innotek for saving our family!"
