As spawning salmon die on their upstream migration, they begin to decompose in the river and often parts of them are carried downstream in the current. Huge Dolly Varden (char) and Rainbow trout wait below the spawning reds for both eggs and chunks of flesh. For these situations it is hard to beat the Ginger Flesh Fly tied with rabbit strips which increase action and lifelike mobility in the water.
