Heddon Baby Lucky 13,June 23, 2008
By rebelonefrom Mississippi
"Back in the 50's, I used the red/white baby Lucky 13's and yellow with black dot Shysters for bass. These baits caught a lot of bass then, and still do. They are great old baits that work without all the bells and whistles just like they did then. There just aint nothin like seeing a bass hit that topwater plug and knock it 2 feet out of the water, which is just as exciting as hooking him."

great for pike,June 12, 2008
By BUCKY1229from Wisconsin
"i found one of the regular sized red head lucky 13s in my grandfathers old tacklebox. i took it out and asked my father how it worked. he put it on a casting rod a chucked it out off of the pier. he said i should reel fast and pull every 4 or so cranks. i soon got bored because the bait didnt look like it had much action. he took the rod and started casting. within 30 min he landed 4 northern pike, the largest being close to 30 inches. that was the hottest pike lure of the year and still produces those giants year after year. The slight wobble is jsut enough to drive them crazy in the lazy summer mood.
also works great for large bass cranked slowly under the surface"

"I have used this lure type for some 50 years. These were used @ a lake in the Dominican Republic. Caught numerous bass for two days. Great plug. Have also used similar around Florida lakes with similar results."

"My nieghbor and I bought some of these at cabela's a while ago and I thought it would be great to add to my topwater collection. Later that year my neighbor was casting his and set his pole down to help fix his sister's pole. I heard something explode in the water and I saw my neighbor fighting a 5 pound bass. It broke the line at the boat and we have been hooked ever since. By the way, I caught a bass similar to that one on a similar color the next year"

"if you fish topwater for any fish that swims the lucky 13 should be in your tackle box. it never does the same thing twice when you snap the rod tip. sure, there are numerous lures on the market today that mimic the 13's action, but they just don't have that 'special something'. bass don't see these lures much and that alone is worth using them . they are a big fish catcher. like the hula popper, they may be old but thier still gold."
