Great rod for the money, October 26, 2009
By Riggerman from Sudbury, Ontario

"I couldn't resist this rod at this price, so I now own 3 Fenwicks. I got the rod two weeks ago but I only got to try it out once even though it was really cold. I must say I am impressed. It had excellent feel, great hooksetting capacity and is quite beautiful. I have many high end rods but I think this may become one of my favorites. Fenwick has really come a long way lately: in quality and in price. I can't wait till next season...."

7 foot spinning... NICE!, June 2, 2009
By FISHnFREAK from SK,CAN

"I purchased on of these this winter and found myself landing a ton of walleye this spring with it (mostly catch and release).
Light, sensitive, and comfortable (I was mainly jigging over the course of three days) , I always seemed to find myself on our groups leader board as far as numbers (Cannot say I caught the largest fish).
Found this rod to be a real pleasure, even though I was leary about jigging with a seven foot rod (normally use shorter).
VERY HAPPY with this rod, would (will?) buy again, compares very well with my other high end rods.

Excellent Rods, May 15, 2008
By AlaskaChester from Southeast Alaska

"I have 2 of these rods -an AVS 60 MF for large rainbows (up to 25 pounds) in British Columbia and coho salmon in Southeast Alaska and an AVS 60 LF for smaller rainbow trout. (I use Penn Prion and Team Daiwa spinning reels on them.) I don't care for the long, wet-noodle rods that seem to be in favor these days. If that's the kind of rod that you want, don't buy one of these. However, if you like a rod that has excellent action with both large and small fish, but has the strength and backbone to fight the large ones this is a good choice for you. I have used Fenwick and G. Loomis rods for many years and these are my favorites. My only small complaint is that the reel seat could use some minor design changes."

Fenwick Rod, July 23, 2007
By BigRagu from Philadelphia, PA

"Rod is too stiff. I have the 6 1/2 ft version and it is great. would not recommend the 6 ft due to its stiffness (unless you plan to use as a boat pole for salt water fishing. Do not like the way the reel is mounted to the rod. The rod uses a from the behind screw tight to fasten the reel. This exposes the threads and makes for an uncomfortable hold. The 6 1/2 ft has a screw from the top handle to hold the real...no threads exposed."

Great rod, December 11, 2006
By CJED from South Carolina, SC

"I got a 6' light action techna AV. Have many other spinning rods and enjoy light responsive rods. The techna is a great rod. The first time I really got to test it on some fish I caught a 4 and 5lb smallmouth on 6lb test. This rod is great. Can feel everything and handles those smallhawgs great. It is a very durable rod as well. Have used previous fenwicks that I love as well as St. Croix's but with the kevlar laced thru the blank you know it is very durable. The tops in performance and sensitivity with the durability that is incredible!"

Fenwick Techna AV Spin Rod Performs Well, November 25, 2006
By Tomwalleye from Aurora, Colorado

"I bought a AVS60LF 6 ft Light Spin Rod early this past spring to take with me to Manitoba in July to jig fish for walleye. I mated it with a Shimano Stradic open face reel and 6 lb. test Berkley Vanish Transition line and jig fished everyday for a week catching on the average over 50 walleye a day including one Master Angler Released 30 1/2 inch, 10 1/2 lb walleye. Although I own and have used more expensive Loomis and St. Croix spin rods I would rate this Techna AV right along with them in sensitivity and strength. When I returned from my Manitoba trip I ordered another from Cabela's......backup."
