"Atfter breaking the spool on my prestige II reel in a nasty spill, I ordered a spare. The spool fit perfectly and performs as I would have expected. I think the prestige II reel is an excellent value. Cabelas was quick to ship my extra spool and I was back on the water within a week."

"I like to go backpacking and fishing in the back country. This reel broke by just falling less than 3 feet. I was not impressed with how durable it was but it was great while it was in one piece."

"I bought three of these extra spools for my 5wt.They work great comes of very easy.I put sinking tip line on one sinking no vis line on the second and floating line on the third.Easy to switch out for different situations.Highly recommend doing the same if ur a die hard flyfisherman like i am its a must!"

"If you own a Prestige Plus reel, these extra spools are the way to go! I have a very limited fishing budget, and with one reel, I have 3 extra spools loaded with different line types for different fishing conditions. The spools snap in and out of the reel body quickly! I have dropped the reel on the rocks several times over the last year, and each time I feared that I damaged it, but to my surprise everthing continued to function normally! These reels and spools are bullet proof!"

"I really like the Prestige plus fly reel. The price is good for a back up or starter reel. There is however one design flaw that I wish Cabelas would address. The retainer cover on the spool is manufactured out of a very brittle plastic. Any attempt to tighten the two screws fastening the cover to the spool body will result in shattering the cover. I'd highly recomend the user to remove screws one at a time, apply Loctite, and replace the screws by barely tightening them."

"The spool is a snap to change. The larger arbor helps avoid coiling of the fly line, an annoyance I had found with other smaller reels. In fact I purchased the #8 reel and extra spool for by #6 rod and line in order to get a little larger diameter reel; just added 200 yards of backing. Works great."

"What can one say about a second spool? it works with the reel, switches out with ease and it is good to have line choices as the day progresses and the opportunity to switch to dry flies emerges."
