Boat Dolly,
June 24, 2009
By VanceB
from Washington
|
"It just didn't work on my boat. It clamps to the back of your transom but it's poorly engineeered and not very universal. It might work on boats with a straight transom but if it's got any kind of curve or shape it's hard to make it work correctly."

"Works well. Can be tough pulling over deep beach sand, but for a 57 y/o I found it managable. I bought it because after a long day out in the sun I just didn't have enough pep to drag the dingy to the dingy rack. I was also concerned about leaving too many scratches on the bottom of the dingy while dragging it through a rocky beach"

DID NOT WORK FOR MY PURPUS,

"THE BOAT DOLLY MAY WORK FOR A SMALL CANOE. BUT NOT A LARGE HEAVY MODEL. I HAVE A OLDTOWN CANOE, AND IT IS TO HEAVY AND DOSEN'T WORK VERY WELL. I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE CARRIER WITH LG WHEELS. ALSO I HAD TO REMOVE 2 WASHERS TO MAKE THE WHEELS RUN FREELY."

"Thank you Cabela's...the boat dolly works great. It's light weight and small enough to pack back in the cab of the truck while you're out on the water. I bought it to use with my 12' jon boat and now I don't have to call a friend to help me load or unload. Sturdy piece of equipment. Kudos to you, David"

Dolly,

By Leisure123

"I thought the product was well constructed and functional for my moving my inflatable boat until I tried to use it. As I tightened the dolly to the transom, the thin metal tube spacer between the dolly chrome tubing and plastic knob would not rotate freely causing the knob to misalign possibly stripping the threads in the knob. I stopped the tightening and replaced it with a wider spacer which rotated freely allowing proper knob alignment and tightening on the boats transom. Even with this problem, I still think the product is good and meets my needs for moving my inflatable from the truck to the waters edge..."

"This boat dolly is a real life saver! I put my 8 ft. bass boat in at a local dam. There is no ramp to speak of and it was getting to be a bit much for me to haul the boat in and out at low tide. This little dolly takes the burn out. I love it."

"the dolly worked exactly as promised, my only comments are, I would have liked it to have had a bigger "footprint" to make it a bit more stable, and a bit longer threaded section, it just made it onto my 12 foot crestliner"

"This does what is supposed to do with some careful balancing. The wheels are too close together for my 4 ft. wide skiff. Also the clamp could use some improvement, it is tricky to get secured on the transom properlt."

Boat Dolly,
August 19, 2007
By Anonymous

"I have ordered two boat dollies over the years. My brother got my first one. Uses it with a v-stern canoe. Really helps. I use the second with a 12-ft princecraft aluminum boat (130 lbs). It easy to assemble and use. The only difficulty is going uphill on uneven ground. It tends to tilt side to side. I suggest that the dolly be manufactured to be wider between the wheels for more stability. I solve the problem by having my girlfriend balance the stern as I haul uphill. Works. Otherwise, I am going to order another, and put side by each. At my age this should do the trick."

Won't fit my transom,
August 6, 2007
By AdirondackTraveler
from AdirondackTraveler,Syracuse, NY
|
"Check the inside of your transom before you order this item. The dolly bracket that goes inside the transom is 9 inches wide. My square stern canoe (Old Town Sport 15) has handles molded into the inside stern corners leaving only 7 inches between them at the transom wall. I'll need a welder to modify the dolly. Other than that, the dolly looks to be worth the price."

"This product is a life saver!! I can load my 12' aluminum jon boat into the back of my truck by myself. Rolls easily and the clamping system is easy...my only problem is it's a month old and there is a little rust forming already."

Cabela's boat dolly,
November 21, 2006
By blackstar
from Ontario, Canada
|
"I purchased the boat dolly as a birthday gift for my son. He is an avid fisherman, who has a 12 ft. boat and no trailer. His car is very small and I doubt that it would be safe for towing. He is a shift worker and seldom is off when his friends are. He rents from a marina operator on a major fishing and boating river. The costs of mooring at the marina would be impractacle. Well, the boat dolly solved the problem. He can walk the boat to the slip launch ramp himself, followed by his car with his motors and gear, and away he goes. Thanks for making this equipment available. Shorty"
