"I tried my first salmo hornet yesterday on the Mississippi at the Coon Rapids dam. After burning through some leeches and not getting any aggressive bites I put a rapala on... still no interest... I put on a salmo hornet and hit 2 walleyes in about 10 minutes time.. they hit very aggressive and were in the 1-2 pound range.. No one else caught anything in the 3 hours I was there. I just ordered some more!"

"Just started using the salmo lures early summer. The Hornet Hot Perch color is just nailing almost everthing! I've gotten "slabber" white bass, at least a 1/2 dozen keeper walleye and even monster northern! Desperate for more with a limited selection in store I purchased a couple of different colors... they all worked. I don't think the color plays into it as much as the action. Holding a rattletrap and a Salmo, two different vibrations. The Salmo has the most unbelievable action and vibration! Have used the 1 3/4" floater and have been trolling with boards and also fishing the wash. Still incredible results!"

"awsome lure amazing coulors selecton and a fantastic wiggle action, catches small mouth like a charm, i like to use the "hot perch". i've also boated, catfish and panfish, i still have yet to catch a walleye but that will be put to test in spring i know for a fact it will catch thoses walleyes with that fantastic wiggle cant wait. super snag proof i've yet to lose one yet. "Cabelas sold these very briefly back in the late 1990's, then had a big clearance on them after one year. They didn't hit most fisherman's radar screens then, but they did on mine because I am an avid ultralight crankbait fanatic. The Hornet disappeared for a long time until Salmo finally got a US distributor in place recently. Before this happened, I was buying mine from a distributor in Canada.
As a result, I enjoyed several years being the only fisherman on the water with a Hornet. It was unbelievable. You can throw this lure into a huge brush pile and pull it out snag free over 90% of the time - that triangular lip bounces off of everything. I have been using them for more than 10 years now. You can catch any species with this - among my greatest catches are a 15lb musky, many 100+ smallmouth bass days on both rivers and lakes, and a big Flathead catfish to boot. You name it, I've caught it with a Hornet.
One word of advice - I have used mostly the #4 size (about 1/8 oz, 1 3/4"), and originally these were sold with #10 treble hooks. Recently they have put #8 hooks on them, but they snag more that way - switch your hooks out to #10's and you'll be happier with both their snag resistance and their action. This is the best crayfish imitation of any crankbait as far as action and available sizes. I do not look forward to the day when these lures no longer work on heavily-fished bodies of water (like they have for me for so long), where for years bass have acted like they never have seen them before."
