"New to fly fishing. Sage was recommended and appears to be a great rod with good build quality. Unfortunately the Cabela RLS reel had a key spring missing and the spool kept falling off the reel housing on my recent 5 day river trip on the Smith in Montana. Fortunately someone else had an extra reel they were able to lend me. Took reel to local shop and they told me this was the third RLS they'd seen recently with a missing spring. Working to see if I can get this replaced and/or returned at Cabela's."

"I purchased this rod and reel combo for the great value. The Sage warranty was also a factor. I have been using an older Sage rod (5 wt.) that has a faster action. I like this rod also a (5wt)- much more despite it's slower action.
It fished very nicely and the color is striking- (it actually got some comments from friends).
My one complaint is that the RLS reel and the 5wt. rod are not nicely matched. The RLS reel is too heavy for the rod at the size that I bought. The reel on it's own is very nice - machined, beautiful. Paired with a Sage Launch 9 foot 5wt- it is too clunky.
Beware of this - online shopper. - It is the only reason that it does not get five stars."
