Seems like good knife but haven't used much yet,
January 7, 2009
By roadliner2

"Bought this as gift for son for Xmas and he seems to like it. Guess it's cleaned maybe 50-60 crappies and 10-12 walleyes so far. Tried it yesterday on some crappies and the edge is still reasonable but will need full sharpening soon. We always do a quick hit on the the blade with a stone prior to using knives and this seems to bring the dege back on this knife easily and well. Blade has good flexibility yet reasonable backbone for spines and bones. Handled is good with curvature and diameter well suited for a good [and comfortable] grip. Not as good as some others I have but they cost 3x as much and I got this in the Bargain Cave for a very, very good price. I'd recommend for a person who wants a good knife and is a frequent, but not a hard core fisherperson and/or as a very good backup to your favorite knife. Price to performance makes this a good deal that will do a good job on your fish it you treat it with reasonable care."

Won't sharpen,
December 12, 2008
By schrist

"Thought it was going to be a good knife, started out sharp, but it will not take an edge. My butter knife is now sharper that this thing. If you are good with a stone you may be able to put a good edge back on it. It seems like it would keep an edge if you could sharpen it."

Advanced Angler 8" Knife is a Quality tool!,
November 19, 2008
By philthepainter
from Jacksonville Beach, Florida
|
"I live and fish the Jacksonville Beach, Florida waterways weekly, and the cold winter weather has dropped the water temp, and with it has created a fish catching frenzy. The colder surf temp's have caused the flounder, especially the large doormat size (10-11 lbs) to come up into the shallow inlets. The flounder are still one of the most challenging species to clean, but the razor sharp Advanced Anglers 8" knife allows a person to carefully run that super flexible tip of the blade along the extra wide bone pattern. The CR17 stainless stell edge stays sharp through many a tough fishing cleanings, plus the tungsten edge is easy to hand sharpen with a honing stone to returnthe knife back to better than new condition. Excellent balanced filet knife, plus the Cabela's price along with there expert customer service people made this a no brainer for me, I looked at many other filet knives, that cost much more, but over all, top shelf fishing tool! I would buy again with no hesitation, period."
