Don"t waste your money,November 6, 2009
By Wasteoftime
"Bought this grinder and tried to process a Deer with it. 18 pounds of deer meat took over 6 hours to grind and stuff into bags. Requires constant unclogging and the stuffer tubes are eExtremely undersized making it extremely difficult (at best) to stuff sausages into casings or burger into bags. Save your $$$ and buy a better quality machine."

OK,October 28, 2009
By chuck3059from portage, indiana
"The motor strains a little when the meat is being ground, but does not stall or overheat. If you are going to grind a large amount of meat, I would recommend a larger unit. I wish the parts were stanless instead of aluminum this would make it dishwasher safe. The 3 different sized grinding plates are a great addition. Overall the grinder works OK for the 4 or 5 pounds of meat I grind at a time. It went on sale a month after I bought it, so unless you are in a hurry wait for the sale price."

Nice Machine,October 20, 2009
By JC369from New Jersey
"Used this unit to make venison hamburger, and tacos. Got jammed up at first because I was overfeeding it. If you are patient and let it do its job it works well. Has to be unclogged from scraps but its not to bad to take apart clean and reassemble. Used it once so far. Happy with the results."

Decent at best,October 17, 2009
By huntwoerfrom Michigan
"So i bought this after reading many good reviews, but its just not for me. With this grinder it takes FOREVER to grind my venison! Even when i cut off all the fat and everything it still somehow manages to get clogged. Not worth the price, i have one with a bigger motor and it works much better. Seriously don't buy it. Even if you just are grinding one deer a year its still not worth it."

Impressed,September 21, 2009
By Deerhunter09
"I liked this grinder. I just used it today for the first time. I ground up most of my first deer this year, and had no problems at all. It was a little slower that I thought it would be, but other than that it worked great. The sausage stuffer worked well to package my burger too."

Cabela's Heavy-Duty Meat Grind,September 7, 2009
By jdswyfrom Glenrock, WY
"This was on sale when we bought it, and I was a little skeptical over what quality we'd get for the price we paid. However, I was pleasantly surprised! We ground a large quantity of meat in preparation for making jerky, and overall, it ran very smoothly. A tip: cut out all fat and tendons prior to grinding, to save yourself the time-consuming process of cleaning out the grinding plates. Other than that, it's a great little machine. We got the cover, too; it fits perfectly. Thanks, Cabela's, for putting out yet another great product!"

Dry immediately!,August 10, 2009
By luckyberksguyfrom PA
"I put that as my title because even though I read the book and dried it the first time, I forgot for the 2nd time and now I have ugly stains all over it. I've only used the middle size that was installed on the unit but so far i'm happy with the burgers. I first tried a shoulder steak but no fat on it and it all fell apart while cooking so went with some cheap chuck roasts they had on sale for under 2 bucks. Normally the burger I get is 4.58 so I'm saving a lot. I dont eat much meat but my uncle, who works as a butcher at that store, told me that I'm not getting my 4.58 money's worth so I decided to buy this grinder.
Clean up is VERY easy and fast. Just do yourself a favor and don't tax the machine. I think it will last a while as long as you cut the chunks small and don't put it all down the chute at once :)
Even if I let it run 2 minutes after I think it's done, there's always a chunk of meat left. I assume it's supposed to be like this? And i've learned to cut the meat to ensure the fat is evenly distributed.
Oh and if anyone knows of a more local type place to find the food silicone they are talking about in the manual, please post it. I'm assuming it's important but didnt see any other posters talking about it."

Meat grinder,August 3, 2009
By daha1
"Gave it 4 stars becuase nobody is perfect. Have used the product one time and it works very well. All we made was hamburger, but its kind of nice to know exactly what is in it. The hamburger came out to lean but the grinder did its job to prefection. It was very easy to clean and I am sure we will make good use of it."

Great Grinder for our needs,June 30, 2009
By CDoddfrom AL
"The heavy duty grinder is excellent for our needs. We can buy our beef roast and know what is going into our ground meat now. We were getting a lesser grade of meat when buying already grind meat in the meat market in our grocery stores- even when we bought the ground round. We now get a higher grade of meat in our ground meat and know what is going into our ground meat now for our family."

Grinding Duck Breast,June 15, 2009
By Regan43from California
"Tried it this weekend, I ground up about 10 lbs. of duck & goose breast and made jerky. It worked well, make sure to trim well, taking out all stringy materials; if not will plug up some of the wholes in the cutter. Worked as promissed."

Meat Grinder for Mom,May 4, 2009
By CajunCookerfrom New Orleans, Louisiana
"My husband purchased a meat grinder from Cabela's for me because the one I used for years, a very old heavy-duty model made entirely of metal, bit the dust. I have made kibbee with the new grinder and used it, too, for making fresh ground beef. Grinding the beef was no problem. However, making the kibbee wasn't the best experience. Because the recipe requires cracked wheat and the mixture becomes a bit paste-y the machine tended to jam a bit. Whereas the ground beef shot out of the grinder in a steady flow, the kibbee kept getting stuck and I had to turn the machine off, remove the 'jam' and then continue the process. Something I never had to do with my ancient heavy-duty, though made for home-use, former model. So...I like the product but can't give it five stars."

Great for home use,April 24, 2009
By Jonny1968from San Francisco
"I have used this grinder successfully with beef, pork, chicken and turkey, and have made some great burgers with it.
It is solid, well built and grinds quickly and evenly. I note along with other reviewers that you need to cut off any gristle or tendon before grinding, else it can get stuck between the blade and the extruding wheel.
It's quite easy to clean, and disassembles so that you can store it in a kitchen cupboard."

heavy duty meat grinder,April 21, 2009
By kodiakminerfrom kodiak alaska
"Fairly well made, a little bit too light duty for grinding a lot of meat such as a whole deer. i used it to make summersausage and it worked pretty well. it took some getting used to and you cant rush it. small little balls of meat worked best . if you want to grind a little bit such as a few pounds it is ok. it does get hot and you have to let it cool like the instructions say."
