Lightening Set 4-Season Hunting Blind,October 27, 2009
By Varmintmanfrom Gorham, New Hampshire
"This is the first ground blind I have purchased and I am very pleased with it. The instructions are pretty skimpy but after setting it up and taking it down several times it became user friendly. The best part is the light weight but a wider carrying strap would make it even better.

Great Blind!,October 24, 2009
By TRL242from West Virginia
"I have been hunting with this blind for about a week now and I love it. While I have not been using it long, I've already sat in it during rain storms and wind storms. In fact, while we were under a tornado watch and the wind was blowing almost 50 mph, I became concerned about it and after driving back out to the field, was surprised to find it still where I left it, still fully erect. The blind has plenty of room in it for my recurve, which is why I bought it and does well at repelling water though the rain will find it's way in if it comes down hard enough. The best part of this blind is the large windows. It's the first blind I've ever been in that you don't have a lot of blind spots or worry about not being able to see in low light conditions. I have read some complaints that the screens and shades pop off because they only use small pieces of velcro on them but I have not had any major problems with them. Yes, they will sometimes come lose on a corner if the wind blows hard enough or you move the blind while erect but it's easy and quiet to put it back on. If I had to pick any complaint it's that the blind's "lighting set" system is hard to operate. I cannot do it like the instructions say but I have learned to put one hand behind the top part of the hub and squeeze the bottom hub into it. Even doing it that way, the blind does go up fast, kind of like a large umbrella, and comes down amazingly fast. All in all, it's a great blind for the money if you're looking for a large blind that has plenty of standing room and plenty of windows. A note, you cannot shoot standing up as the windows are too low to the ground but if you don't mind shooting from a chair or on your knees, this is the one to get."

Lightning Blind,August 4, 2009
By Posttoastyfrom Tenmile,Oregon
"After viewing the reviews of different offerings of hunting blinds,I was not at all sure what to order. The customers of this type of product seemed to be unsatisfied no matter what the constuction or materials used.Ordering on the net with no actual contact with the many varieties offered was like rolling the dice. I think after receiving my blind and setting it up,the only confusing part was the takedown instruction that said to strike the lower strut with the hand. There is not enough room between the bars to do this. One merely places one hand on the upper bar for leaverage, and pulls sharply down on the lower bar to collapse the blind.Very simple, very effective. The set up time the second time you do it,is about 60 seconds. The same holds true for take down. The construction of the blind is well within the range of acceptability. It sheds rain just fine and holds up in the wind. The windows operate pretty well with alittle help from some additional velcro strips. I have set it up in various locations and terrain with good results.Brushing up the blind with local flora is recomended. It wont shoot yor game for you or put you on the cover of Rollin Stone, but as a light-weight easy to use blind, for the money,it can't be beat."

how to hide a 750 red gorrila,May 23, 2009
By biggamehunter4301from Eastern Oregon
"This year while out turkey hunting I rode my my red King Quad into my favorite turkey spot and needed to conceal the bike. I set up the blind and put it over the bike sat on the bike and waited. Within 30 minute I had 12 turkeys walking within 15 yards of me, the Quad and the shot gun. (to bad for the turkeys.) The set up is quick and easy, take down and storage takes a little practice. The shoot through windows are awesome. All and all a very good investment, you should probable buy an extra set of windows when you first purchase the blind because I can tell you that your going to need them soon."

Good Concept-poor design,May 13, 2009
By Lonesomedovefrom Illinois
"After turkey hunting with this blind for a season I can offer some insights. First of all the window design is flawed. Unlike most blinds, even those far less expensive, the windows are an all or nothing proposition giving the hunter(s) little or no flexibility in adjustment. Secondly, the concept of the blind as advertised is for quick deployment. The blind is awkward to set up in that the umbrella system does not always align properly and without stakes the blind is very unstable in the wind.
Again the idea is good but with out some basic design improvements it is certainly not worth the high dollar you pay for it."

Littlejon,April 24, 2009
By LittleJonfrom Fallon, Nevada
"This unit for starters is very long. They don't show you how long the unit actually is on the set up video. It has no backpack style straps. If you can transport it to the site, or a short trip in, it would be fine. The windows and screens are velcro. The windows should at least be zippers or magnets. The velcro strips are so small they really don't align up when you put up the screen or window. It is roomey inside. The light denier would be good in extreme hot weather. It erects and takes down very easily. If it wasn't for the length and it being so cumbersome when packing, this unit would be workable."

"I have used my new blind 5 times now. It goes up fast and easy and comes down just as quick. I have been in some other blinds and I have to say, this one works the best for me. My other hunting buddies thought it was better than the ones they had for twice the price. Good deal."

Solid Blind,January 28, 2009
By EmptyHunterfrom DC
"Like other reviewers, I found the window velcro to be a poor fit sometimes. Don't plan to change window setting when deer are coming it, it's just too loud. However, the window arrangements are great. It allows for various fully and partially open windows and screens. Overall, this is a good blind at a good price. It sets up quickly and breaks down without any fuss. If you are reasonable about tucking it into cover and and blending it in with a little local vegetation, the deer don't seem spooked by it. It does need to air out for a few days after purchase, as it comes with a noticeable factory/plastic smell. In extremely cold weather, the blind material gets louder, but that's only a factor during set up."

worth the money,January 14, 2009
By mrjsneakyfrom SC
"Haven't taken it out to the field yet, but its been set up in my garage for weeks now. Very good blind for the price. Extremely tall blind that you can stand in with no problems. I am 6 foot and I can stand in it without hitting the ceiling. I only gave it four stars for the fact that even though you can stand in it, the windows are still too low to shoot out of. So in order to shoot out of the blind, you still have to sit or squat down. The bruch loops are great, the venting system is a nice touch and the windows are big. Only problem that I know of is the windows are places to low to stand and shoot out of them!"

A Great Blind,January 6, 2009

"Used this blind several times....had trouble "popping" the center piece into a locking position. One in locked position found it to be roomy, comfortable and workable. Like the other reviews, magnets would be better than "velcro". Intend to redo mine. A great blind at a great price."

Easy to use,December 19, 2008
By Supremeweasel67from Clarksville, Tn
"NICE!!!! This thing is easy to set up and take down. Was a little stiff first time out, and was glad I took the time to try it first before heading to the woods to use it. It was so easy to set up, I kept thinking there was more to it. Finally just did what it said, and it was up. Now it did take some strength to get it open, and to close it, hope that will eventually loosen up some, if not oh well. I was able to put 2 hunters in this sitting in collapseable chairs, sitting side by side facing in opposite directions. Had deer and even turkeys walk right by us. Yes, they were a little reluctant, but after awhile, along they came. Think I may of had some scent on my boots or something, because a young buck seemed like he wanted to come in. He walked right up to it, and kept sniffing. I agree with some that the velcro is a little small, but I cured this with a roll of self adhesive velcro. Worked fine for me. Would like for this to have a floor liner, but not a deal breaker. ( a nice thing about not having a floor is, can ride ATV to site, Pop open blind, lift up on side and place over ATV. now you and the ATV are concealed. this blind does seem to make noise when the wind is blowing heavy, but that would be the case with any. Definitely stake it down, or it will be a kite. (Same as others).Looking forward to using this for spring turkey season, sitting in comfortable chair, and will have Thermacell going to keep bugs away. Should work out nice in the confines of the blind. blind is a little big to hike into the woods, but worth it I think if you are a ground hunter."

"Shot two small bucks, 1 doe with gun. Blends well, and tall enough you can stand and stretch. One downfall I almost cannot open it. Had to turn upside down to get leverage to open. Hopefully the blind will loosen up. When using a scope I do not use the screens."

Good Hunting Blind,November 30, 2008
By birdbreakerfrom WA
"I used the 4-Seasons Lightning Blind this past week-end during the Late Bow hunt in Washington state. My son and I went out Friday night and set it up in the dark for the next morning hunt. Easy to set up. I have yet to get any deer to come in to the blind. I have used cover scent, doe-estrus scent, C'Meree deer , etc. Not a single deer has come to it yet! I have only been in it twice now for about a total of 4 hours. Other than no deer yet, it is all it is said to be in the advertisements. The velcro windows seem to be its only negative so far, thats why the 4 stars. I also noticed that when I first set it up in the yard, that the material was sticking together on the inside of the tent and there seems to be some material peeled away in a couple of spots. It was like it was still wet when they packaged it at the mfg. plant. A great blind for the price. Thanks Cabelas."

Hunting Blind,November 18, 2008

"I believe cabelas needs to redesign the valcro on the windows. They only give you a very small patch that will not hold both the shoot thru and flap. when the wind blows a little it is very aggravating to keep re attaching the window covers. Valcro needs to be larger"

Cabela's Lightning Set 4-season Hunting Blind,November 18, 2008
By Nick77from Upper Michigan
"This blind sets up and can be taken down easily and quickly. I like the structure design and the layout of the windows. However, I would not buy this blind again or recommend to anyone because the window closures are poorly fitted. The manufacturers scrimped on the velcro and in the field the window screens and closures are very hard to secure properly and don't stay in place. If the window closures are ever redesigned I would consider buying another."

4 season blind,November 6, 2008
By KenBearfrom Upstate New York
"This is my second one so I must like it a lot. I am tall so most blinds are too low for me to shoot a bow from. This one is tall enough. The door way has changed from the original and has apiece across the bottom which I trip over. This one is easier to fold with only one joint. I have taken quite a few deer from my first. I highly recommend it."
