"I returned this cap to the store the day after it arrived. I'd only tried the hat on a half-dozen or so times and the insulation began creeping up towards the top of the hat as has been mentioned in other reviews.
After receiving my refund I bought a Windshear Polar-Titan beanie-type hat at Cabelas. Perfect fit for my large head. When the weather gets really cold I'll be able to wear a knit cap over it. Layered protection for my head."

"I had purchased another gore-tex cap but it was a knitted style which always seemed to slide up my head and it would get snagged walking through the woods. With this hat it fits well over my ears, no snagging, and snug. Excellent!"

"While not sure what I expected, this cap has a crunchy (gore-tex?) padded (thinsulate?) pad along the crown. While this might be good for extreme conditions I had other more comfortable, less bulky and quieter caps to wear while on vacation, so I ended up leaving this at home instead of bringing it on the alaska cruise I bought it for."

"The gor tex liner doesn't even cover the entire hat!! it only goes down to the fold up part, so the entire piece that folds up (has Cabelas on it) doesnt have gortex in it. so bottom edge gets soked and wicks up inside getting you wet. DONT wash it!!! the gortex isnt sewn in so it all bunches up and distroys the hat"

"I purchased this hat last winter during an extremely cold snap. I was anticipating a great warm hat, which it was - for a while. Within the first dozen wearings the Thinsulate and GoreTex came loose inside and promptly bunched up in the top of the cap. Now I have a conehead-like lump on the top of my head and much reduced insulation elsewhere. To be fair, I have a big head so perhaps that's part of the problem. However, it didn't seem as though the insulation was attached very well, and it immediately bunched when it came loose. I'll be looking for another hat for the -10 temps we have now.
I still love Cabela's, just not this hat!"

"It is way to small. And if you try to wash it, it will be junk, the insides go into a ball, and you can't fix that one. I then cut it open to see. There isn't much holding the Gore-Tex or Thinsulate in it's place. Dont wash. CHEAP!"

"The cap worked fine the first time I wore it. But the Gore-Tex liner is now bunched up at the top of the cap. I cannot get it back in place. This renders the cap useless for the purpose I purschased it for. I will try and exchange it for another one. Perhaps I got the 1 in 1,000,000 that got past the quality inspectors."

"Basically a nice toque. Keeps my head harm and dry, like advertised. Now, I don't know if it is the shape of my head or what, but it keeps creeping up so I am constantly having to pull it down over my ears again. I have tried stretching it, and though it got better, the creep has never stopped."

"This seems to be a product that will work as advertised, keeping you warm and dry, but only if the gore-tex and thinsulate stay in place. I question the ability of the insulation to stay in place. The one I just bought has a bunch of loose stuff floating around inside making the cap seem bulky in some places and thin in others, like the insulation wasn't sewn into place properly. I will be exchanging it for another one. If they are all like this, I would not recommend it."
