"This was not my first Carhartt coat. It was my third. I have always trusted and worn Carhartt. This new style is great!!! It is a replacement for the last Arctic Parka ( circa 1991 ) that I bought. It is, by no means worn out. It will be dedicated to a work coat now. That, in itself speaks to the durability and longevity of Carhartt Products. I really like the new style of this Sandstone Ridge coat. I also got the matching hood and vest to go with it. Also, as usual, the service from Cabelas was outstanding. I ordered on Thursday or Friday, and recieved it on the following Tuesday( even with regular s & h ). It was really great timing, as I wore it to a quite cold Soccer game in northern Ohio the same day. The coat lived up to My expectations completely. It is plenty warm. In closing, I would have to say that I am STILL a quite satisfied and loyal Carhartt and Cabelas customer.

"I only gave this a 4 star because there is a flaw in the sewing. This coat is good for all weather conditions very comfortable the zipper works smooth. I also have the detroit jacket which is a bit warmer. I would reccommend both. This is a better coat for doing outdoor chores."

"I live on a farm in Montan and this coat keeps me warm all winter. Great material and great movement through the arms. Doesn't ride up when working about your head and plenty of room in the fron pockets for holding tools and gear need for work. Would recomend for people in cold and windy areas."

"As is the case with all Carhartt products, the quality of manufacture is excellent.
One note of caution, however...
If you're looking for a really warm winter coat, the Ridge Coat should not be your first choice.
The "sherpa" lining is rather thin, the sleeves are only lightly insulated and the collar is simply cotton, not the usual cordoroy that is often found on such coats.
For general wear and outside chores, it's great, but for seriously cold weather, I would recommend Carhartt's Traditional Arctic Coats, also available from Cabelas. I've worn my Arctic series coat on camping trips in the worst of Winter weather and it has performed far beyond any reasonable expectations."
