Well functioning net,
July 31, 2009

"Bought this for recent trip where I could freshwater fish from a boat with my kids (9 & 11). Got to use it a lot (!), though mostly on yellow perch, but it handled a 20" bow just fine. It barely floats and was a bit heavy for my kids to handle though they got pretty good at it after a few trips. Love the net itself, never had a serious tangle where the treble hooks on the plugs got stuck like my older nets, and it is easy on the fish which is great as most of my fishing is catch and release. I painted a ruler on the handle so I immediately could get a length measurement - would be nice if that was done to begin with. The elastic cord at the end turned out to be more in the way than useful for me. It is holding up OK for the 14 times on the water use. All in all well worth the money."

Well worth the money,

"I just finished 6 days of pontoon fishing and this net, with the longer handle, met all of my expectations. The extra reach was just what I was looking for and releasing hooked fish (without taking them out of the water) was easy thanks to the large opening and the rubber mesh. This is a great way to go for catch and release fishing."

Weak neck - broke first time out!,
May 24, 2009
By jflewis88

"Beautiful net, too bad the neck was so weak. Took it out for the very first time this weekend, and it broke on the first big fish I tried to land... Not a giant fish, either, just a 25" brown trout. A net of this size should have easily handled this fish, but it snapped right off. Terrible quality. Bought the net based on solid reviews, so perhaps I got one that was flawed? Hope this was the case, and that customer service will help me out."

Classic and modern,

"I was looking for a wooden net for my boat and wanted one with a rubber net. There's nothing worse than the fabric or nylon nets for when your trying to release fish back quickly. It never fails that the fish will twist and the hook will get stuck in the fabric then the long fight to free it. Also fabric rips easy and takes a lot of the protective membrane off the fish, which decreases the chance for survival. If you release most of your fish or just want an elegant trouble free net look no further this is it."

"I used this net for steelhead in Great Lake tribs. It worked great. The rubber netting is also quite kind to the fish."

Only a 4 because of cost,
October 19, 2007

"I have not broke it. Its looks great, nabs fish great but you can tell if you put any weight of the bow of the net it would break quick. I had to super glue the bow part when I first got it..... Still dont get me wrong even after a drive to the store to buy super glue for a new net... still a 4. The nets a good looking net and for the money. Ive used it for about 80 miles of floating= 13 trips. no problems. Buy some super glue and a clamp if need be. Nice Finish, Nice Handle quality.... Its just eh cheap bow. I think a big Steelhead or King may give it a run."

Not up to your usual standards,

"Very poor lamination. My net broke on the the first fishing trip. It is possible I could have received a bad net but the overall quality was very poor. This is the first product I have purchased from Cabela's that I was very disapointed in."
