Alaskan Guide Folding Knife,
October 27, 2009

"Knife works great, heavy duty materials and construction. Only thing that could be improved is the size (a little too bulky for field work) and the sheath is also too bulky. Great knife"

Best hunting lockblade ever,
January 5, 2009
By VaMountainHunter
|
"This is one heck of a knife. Very solidly built, has the right grooves in the right places for a great grip and is extremely sharp out of the box.
It is much heavier than I thought, but that goes back to how solidly it is built.
I can't think of any modifications I would make, it's the perfect hunting lockblade."

Alaskan Guide Series folding knife,
December 29, 2008
By RNO1
from Cripple Creek, Colorado
|
"My wife gave me this knife for Christmas, 2008. I've had the fortune to hunt big game in the United States since the age of 14. Christmas and Birthdays have always been the day I got the ultimate knife, some "Bucks" made in the early '60's and 70's, but none have ever lived up to this knife. I took a nice cow elk December 28th, used the knife, never sharpening it once. Start to finish this knife impresses. It's balance and ease of use make this the best knife I've ever owned."

"I decided to put this knife to the test and in the 2 years I've owned this knife I've done 11 deer and 3 pigs with it and it's still fairly sharp. I haven't taken it to a stone yet. It's done full field dressing + skinning and a couple boning out jobs. I wouldn't buy another knife with this type of job in mind!"

5 stars for a solid work knife,
December 17, 2007
By jwilton
|
"Just finished an Eastern Ontario deer season with this knife on my belt. The S30V steel field dressed 3 deer, ( one was my sons large, 8 point ) and skined five and I haven't tooked it to a stone. The gut hook is my first and I wouln"t skin another deer without one. In like the foulders because they are always out of your way when sitting or tracking in tight spots and the alpha foulder locks tight when open. 5 stars for a solid work knife."

alpha folding knife,

"I field dress and butcher my own deer. I normally need to switch to a second knife in the middle of removing the hide and then again to remove the shoulders and hind quarters. This Alaskan Guide Series Alpha Folding Knife with titanium coating lasted the whole deer and did not need sharpening and the knife was still sharp enough to begin a second deer. I also cube'd half the meat to make hamburg with the grinder. This is the sharpest and most amazing knife I have ever owned. I recomend this to any hunter who wants a sharp reliable knife. Amazing blade technology a little pricy but, worth the reliability."

Quality at it's finest,
July 23, 2007
By WINorthwoods

"This is probably the best folder I have ever put in my hands. It has a great balance and exceptional grip and feel to it. The locking mechanism is very stout and sturdy and the one hand opening on it is smooth as silk. The knife has a fair amount of heft to it, this translates in my book to well made, but is not cumbersome...actually it is compact and easy to carry. The guthook shaves paper like a razor and the blade is the sharpest I have seen yet out of all my knives out of the box. This knife exhibits USA quality at it's finest from a fantastic and reputable company. This knife will definitely be my premier hunting blade when I go out this coming fall. Thank you, Cabela's, for providing such a well made and quality knife. I will show all of my hunting friends...count on it!"

"Just used my new Cabela's Alaskan Guide Series Alpha knife for the first few times. The knife is very sharp right out of the box, but the gut hook was not sharp enough to do the job. Knife is well built and has nice weight to it. It fits my hand vey well and is easy to use. I would recommend it for anyone to use on big game."

Cabela's Alaskan Guide Alpha Folder with gut hook,
November 25, 2006
By HickorySticks
|
"I bought this knife because I was looking for a folding knife with a drop point blade and a gut hook. I used the knife to process one deer so far this fall. I was really looking forward to trying the gut hook. Unfortunately, the gut hook was not sharp enough to work and I ended up doing it the old fashioned way. I was very disappointed with this feature. I also found the gut hook to be awkward when using the standard blade.
The knife itself is very nice. The standard blade is sharp and the knife has a nice amount of heft to it.
I would have rated the knife higher if the gut hook actually worked. Unfortunately, it feels like a bulky addition to an otherwise nice knife."

Buck Knife,
November 23, 2006
By RickT243
from Mountain View , Hawaii
|
"Sharp, sharp, sharp. This knife stays that way. It holds it's edge the best I have ever seen. I have cleaned and boned out 6 big game animals without even touching the edge and it is still razor sharp. It opens real easy and is a good looking knife. The black finish on the blade however will come off if you try to clean off dried blood with a green scrub sponge. Once you get over a little black coming off and remember how razor sharp it still is all is good. I highly recommend this knife. It really holds it's edge."

"This is the best knife that I have ever owned. We used it in October to dress 2 antelope and a mule deer. It performed like no other knife I have ever owned. It retained its edge and is still extremely sharp. I plan to buy more for gifts for Christmas."
