Accurate,
November 3, 2009
By Noochie
|
"First time trying these sabots. Sighted in with 3 shots at 40 yards. Great grouping. Used 50 cal. 250 grs. over 100 grs. Triple 7 powder in Remington ML700. I like to use a plastic gallon jug filled with water to get the impact result with a loud plop and see the water fly. Set this up at 160 yards. First shot dead center and what an explosion of water. WOW!! Have not hunted deer with this round but am hunting the opening season November 7th here in North Carolina. Will let you know the results. Also this load will go with me to Nebraska in December. Would recommend this load to anyone."

Great,

"This is the best shooting sabot I have ever used. Sighted in at 100yds a group of 1 inch. Took Elk at 215 and 35 yards and they performed great! I like all lead bullets because of the many problems found with jacketed ones. The price is right so that you can get a varity of weights to find what shoots best for you. I will say again that you can not go wrong with these, I have shot just about every one out there in many styles of guns and found these to be the best choice."

Best group I have ever shot,
October 7, 2009
By Anonymous

"I used the 215 grains in a 50 cal and shot a 3 inch group at 100 yards. 1:32 twist 90 grains of FFg. I had to use a bit of underhold as when I switched to these I was out of down adjustment on the sight from dead on with 230 grain hollow point sabots to these extended range one.
In the 54 cal, the 300 grain were about a 6 inch pattern with 105 grains FFg in a 1:28 twist barrel. Recoil was mild compared to the left hook to the face a full on slug out of the 54 delivers."

235 gr. extened range,
September 25, 2009

"Best deer bullet I have ever tried in my 50 cal Encore and there were many. This is is a riflemans dream, accurate, hard hitting, great expansion. You probably will not find an exit wound unless you are very close. Almost always you will find the bullet just under the hide on oppisite shoulder, these babys look like quarters when recovered all the energy is released in the deer not flying through the open air on the other side heading to who knows where. Put the bullet where it belongs in the heart lung area and he will not go far at all, the farterst I have trailed a deer is about 20 to 30 yards. These bullets are traveling 1975 fps on top of 100 grs of 777 out of the muzzle. 200 yd shots are a peice of cake and 250 and 300 are not imposible learn your trajectory. I have my rife set 2 inches high at one hiundred yards and that gives me a 150 yard zero and 6 inches low at 200 yards. At 300 yards there is still over 900 lbs. of energy. They named this bullet right"

what a bullet,
July 23, 2009
By keepyourpowderdry

"I used these bullets on the 1st. of July on a coyote hunt where I live in Utah and dropped a dog in its tracks at 204 yards with my M-85 54cal. I used 130 grain of RS with a Willaims peep and it was the last thing that old dog will ever remember. With a three shot group under 3 inchs@ 150 yards and cleaning every three shots I found this bullet to be outstanding. I did find it up-setting that the Cabela's in Lehi Utah that is about 60 miles from my home did not carry this bullet in 54 cal. but I was able to get it on line. I cant wait to try them on the elk hunt this year great bullet. thanks"

elk beware,

"i bought 180 grain 50cal after trying several different bullets and was very impressed with the accuracy. on my first day of my elk hunt I shot a nice 5x5 bull thru the neck at @ 25 yards and dropped it in its tracks. the exit wound was large and would pour a blood trail if it had run, but it wasn't necessary, because it fell where it stood. excellent bullet does what its suppose to do. i cant wait till next season "ELK BE AFRAID I'M COMING TO EAT YOU""

"the precision rifle x- tended sabots are the best seating sabots i have ran yet. i went to sight in my cva with these and every shot was nice and clean . the shots sounded like everything was perfect. for accuracy they are a very straight shooting bullet. i purchased the 180 gr. because the ballistics are nice. i am running 100 gr of hodgens pellets and it just seems like the most cleanly shooting bullet i have shot in a while."

45 Caliber 180 Grain,
December 17, 2008
By Ahoo
from Howell, MI
|
"I recently have purchased the Cabela's Precision X-tended Range Sabots and have found them to be by far the easiest loading Sabots I have ever used. I have a CVA Kodiak and have shot, Hornady XTPs, TC Shockwaves, and Powerbelts. They were by far the easiest to start by far and load the rest of the way as well. I have only had the chance to shoot at about 45 yards and they grouped well but this is not far enough to give a good review on. Especially considering that I plan to shoot out to 200 yards with them. My 5 stars is based solely on what I know and mainly attributed to the ease of loading. -Good Luck All"

great sabot,

"My friend builds flintlocks and was looking for a sabot to use in a slow twist long rifle. After trying many brands, he used this one and has attained one inch groups at 150 yards with iron sights, witnessed by others at the range. His buddies, including myself, have tried this bullet/sabot and got similar results. Excellent results. The hollow point version opens well and has put deer down in their tracks on more than one occasion."

I am using iron sights, very accurate at 50 and 100 yards. I have not used for hunting as yet."

Very Dependable projectile,
October 13, 2008
By lhowes
from Washington state,
|
"I used the 300 grain leaded bullet with 150 grains of pirodex powder (3-50 gr. pellets) In a Black Diamond XR muzzle loader.
I shot a 4x5 Bull Elk at 135 yards. Opening day of Muzzle loader season in Washington, Oct. 4, 2008 The Bull only went about 10 yards and that was the end of it.
I had sited in @ 2 1/2 inches high at 50 yds, Which is right on at 150, so i just held right on the animal and it went through the top of the heart.
I wasn't able to retrieve the bullet, but I know it did the job well.
I would recommend the 300 grain for elk. It shoots consistantly with a good 3 shot pattern at 50 yards. And at 150 yds.
Happy Hunting!"
